Goodbye Boris Diaw

Goodbye Boris Diaw you will be missed. Thanks for helping the Spurs win the championship in 2014. Hopefully, you have a great time in Utah with the Jazz!

I am deeply saddened by news that Boris Diaw was traded to the Utah Jazz today. Boris was one of my favorite players in the NBA and he was instrumental in the 2014 championship run the Miami Heat could never figure anyone in the offense out. Boris was a special playmaker with the ball and he could knock down threes.  My favorite play from him was the bounce pass to Tiago Splitter leading to a huge slam dunk. The Heat during that stretch realized they were not going to win.

The Spurs played the most beautiful team ball and Boris Diaw will be remembered for playing on one of the greatest teams of All-Time. Boris had great court vision and  he will be remembered as a champion. However, at the end of the day the NBA is a business and Pau Gasol will help the Spurs especially if Duncan really does end up retiring. I still hold out hope that Tim Duncan can return and he could come of the bench and have his time limited and be well rested heading into the playoffs.

The interesting part of the trade is the San Antonio Spurs acquired a intriguing piece for the future.  Olivier Hanlan seems like he will be a great prospect in the next couple years. Oliver from the clips that I have seen have been impressive andhe could become a great shooter off the bench. Oliver and Bryn together could become the next Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.  I know Tony Parker won't be a San Antonio Spur forever as he is aging and Patty Mills may one day decide to leave. I think the Spurs made a great business decision looking at the situation with a pragmatic vision.  Boris Diaw thanks for the memories and I wish you the best with the Utah Jazz. I will root for you next year and hopefully the Spurs play the Jazz in the Western Conference Finals!
