Playoff Mets?

Does Yoenis Cespedes make the Mets a World Series favorite?
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets land Yoenis Cespedes and what looks to be a great deal for the sides. The Detroit News revealed the players and clearly the Mets wanted Yoenis. "The Tigers have traded left fielder Yoenis Cespedes to the Mets, Detroit general manager Dave Dombrowski confirmed Friday. In return, the Tigers are getting right-handed pitchers Luis Cessa and Michael Fulmer. MLBpipeline ranks Fulmer No. 7 and Cessa No. 16 in Mets' minor-league system." (The Detroit News)

I am loving this trade for two reasons. The first reason the Mets need offensive, and now they have it. The Mets are very active in the Playoff race they are only 4.5 out of the Wild Card, and they are three games out of the N.L East. The Blue Jays, Dodgers, Yankees, Astros, and Nationals improved their talent. Heck, even the Giants got Mike Leake ESPN reported that move last night. (ESPN)

I believe the Mets now have formidable team to contend. The Mets may have even landed the better option for their team. I know only time will tell if he plays better than Gomez, but I believe he may be the spark they are looking for. Meanwhile, the Tigers landed some great prospects. The Tigers are in a tough place they are not horrible, however they aren't great. The Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski deserves a pat on the back.

The Tigers have a rebuilt farm system overnight. I actually believe that in less than two years the Tigers will be competitive again.  The Tigers could sign some great players in free agency this year!

I believe both sides won the trade today, and it will be interesting to watch this play out. Do the Mets have a legitimate shot at the Postseason? Sound off in the comments!
