Women in Men Sports?

My favorite WNBA Player shooting Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky!

I am so excited with the Kings hiring Nancy Lieberman. (ESPN) I have felt that women should be able coach in Men's leagues for awhile now. The future is here and I believe that women should also be able to try out to play in the NBA, NFL, MLB, and even the NHL. I believe that diversity is so important and Women deserve that opportunity.

I believe that women's leagues are not fair to women. The D-League players make more money than women in the WNBA make. The average d-league makes 25,000. Keith Schlosser, (SB Nation) Compare that to what women make, and keep in mind that the WNBA is the professional league. The rookie minimum is 35,000 dollars and if you are good to become a veteran you make 50,000 dollars. The Maximum is only 25,000 thousand dollars more. The stats came from the (Altius Directory).

If I was a WNBA player I would sit out. It is crazy that the worst player in the NBA makes three times what a WNBA player makes. I am not suprised that Diana Taurasi decided to sit out this year. ESPN had a great article written by Kate Fagan who is awesome on Around The Horn.

I believe if the WNBA won't pay more than women should be allowed to try out for the NBA. I also believe teams should be willing to take a chance on a women. I hope with coaches being hired and this is a great first step to diversity in sports. The next step is simply paying women similar to men. I hope it happens in my lifetime. Sound off in the comments, are women underpaid?
