Are the Crow Creek Chieftains ready to contend....

The 2016-2017 Crow Creek Chieftains, open with Flandreau Indian in about four minutes. If it was streaming, I'd be watching....

As we close in on Lakota Nation and looked at the list of boys games on day one, and oh baby, there are some doozies. Right away, I've got my eye on two games....

2:00 p.m. - No. 5 White River vs. No. 12 Standing Rock....

And....

5:30 p.m. - CROW CREEK VS. ST. FRANCIS

That is a tough, tough matchup in the first round between two quality teams. Crow Creek, at No. 7 and St. Francis at No. 10.

The Chieftains, under the direction of Billy Jo Sazue have some talent, some youth and have a warmup with Little Wound Saturday.

Can't say I know a lot about these guys, YET, but I know of a few kids on the squad....

Danny Sazue....great golfer, I believe transferred from Chamberlain and am looking forward to seeing he and Dayson Kohlus work together. Watched Kohlus play a bit last year with older brother Grant....some pretty big shoes to follow but the youngster obviously has game.

Only four seniors on the roster: Sazue, 14 14 Kellan St. John 5'8 G 12 and 22 22 Rashawn Pease 6'1 F 12 and Jarren Estes

Seeing some up and coming big guys and have heard some good things about Jarren Estes a 6-foot-6 senior.... And seeing some really young, and perhaps up and coming talent in Luke Wells, frosh and 8th-grader, Tevin McBride.

Three big guys, 6-foot-4 and another Sazue on the roster, Joe, a 6-foot-1 junior and ya gotta think this Crow Creek team is going to have some fight in them.

Looking forward to seeing this team..good luck Crow Creek!
