Monday Nightmare

Yet again, the Washington Redskins embarrass themselves in the nation's capitol, losing to the Carolina Panthers under the bright lights. On the primetime stage that is Monday Night Football, they have lost 16 of 17 at home.

Angst and frustration arose upon the faces of a devoted fanbase in hope of a Redskins victory. We all know that although in the midst of a subpar season, the Carolina Panthers are no joke. Being that they are the defending NFC champions, we must show our respects. But as well as Carolina played, the Panthers didn't win this game, Washington threw it away.

Kirk Cousins, a sure MVP candidate, was third in passing yards with 4045 on the season. Although throwing for 315 yards, Cousins had no touchdowns and one interception. The Redskins were held to only 29 yards rushing as a team. Veteran wideout DeSean Jackson came to play with 111 yards on seven catches. Two of those receptions were originally ruled incomplete, but eventually overturned. Dropped passes and penalties ( seven for 70 yards) perpetrated frustration amongst players. That said, tight end Jordan Reed was ejected after throwing a punch to the helmet of Panthers safety Kurt Coleman.

Defensively, the Redskins were exposed, and Carolina took advantage. It allowed 300 yards and two touchdowns, courteously of reigning MVP Cam Newton. Jonathan Stewart had a game of his own, contributing 152 yards rushing. Veteran tight end Greg Olsen added 85 yards receiving.

"It was a good showing for us tonight against a playoff caliber team." Olsen said.
