NFL Week 4 Picks: Fabulous 5

Welcome back for another week of the Fabulous 5. We were a Golden Tate half-inch away from another winning 3-2 week. Unfortunately, Tate's touchdown was overturned and leaves us with our first losing week on the season. Just remember it's a marathon, not a race. No sweat. Here are last week's results and win percentage on the year:

Week 3 (2-3)

Chicago Bears +7.5 - WIN

Detroit Lions +3 - LOSS

Tennessee Titans -2.5 - WIN

Los Angeles Chargers +3 - LOSS

Arizona Cardinals +3 - LOSS

***Year-to-date NFL record: 8-7, 53%***

LOS ANGELES RAMS (+6.5)

Sean McVay and the Rams are well rested and travel to Jerry's World to take on the short-rested Cowboys. I like what McVay is doing with this offense and with the extra time to prepare, look for the Rams to exploit the weak secondary of the Cowboys. The Rams have the tools on defense to contain RB Ezekiel Elliott and make Dak beat them through the air. The Cowboys lack a deep threat and WR Dez Bryant is past his prime. I like the Rams to stick around in a close one. Take the points!

NEW YORK JETS (+3)

Gross, the Jets. Picking the Jets makes me want to vomit all over the place but this is one of my favorite picks for a couple reasons. For starters I don't think the Jets offense is as bad as people make them out to be, and they actually put together a good game against the Dolphins last week. After back-to-back road games to open the season, they now drawl back-to-back home games. On the flip side, the Jaguars opened up a can of whoop ass on the Baltimore Ravens in London winning 44-7. When was the last time the Jaguars won and won like that? I can only imagine what that long plane ride home was like. The now over-confident Jaguars travel up the east coast to take on the sorry New York Jets as a road favorite?! I think the Jaguars high off a dominant win, combined with overlooking the Jets is a perfect recipe for a major letdown. I like the Jags and what they're doing as an organization but the blowout in London was nothing more than a fluke. Take the Jets and puff your chest out! J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-1.5)

It's only Week 4 and I'm already getting sick of this team. I said this last week and I'll say it again. The Chargers are better than their record suggests. The now 0-3 Chargers welcome in a slightly overrated Philadelphia Eagles' team. The Eagles are coming off a game they should have lost if it wasn't for really bad coaching decisions by Giants head coach Ben McAdoo. Instead, the narrative became this miraculous 61-yard FG win by the Eagles. If the Eagles lose that game to the Giants, I think the public would be singing a different tune. The Eagles come in wounded as they will be without DT Fletcher Cox. With one of the worst secondary's in the league, I expect Chargers QB Philip Rivers to feast. Rivers loves to air it out and this matchup plays right into his hands. The Chargers are 9-2 off a division game in the last 3 years against the spread and Philip Rivers has never lost to the Eagles as a starter. The Eagles +1.5 looks like so much fun but Rivers will crush your hopes and dreams, so don't do that. Lay the points, take the Chargers.

DENVER BRONCOS (-3)

The Broncos return to Mile High and welcome in the Oakland Raiders in what should be a great AFC West battle. Both are coming off bad road losses to teams they probably should have beat. I always hate going against Derek Carr and the Raiders but I really like this Broncos' team at home, especially early in the season. QB Trevor Siemian seems to really struggle on the road but at home he can compete with any of them. I'm still not really sure what to make of this Raiders' team. They've showed signs of inconsistency and I still don't like their secondary enough to take them in Denver. Take the Broncos!

WASHINGTON REDSKINS (+7)

Don't sleep on the Redskins, I've been saying it all along. I don't understand why Washington gets no love and I still believe the Redskins have the most complete roster in the NFC East. If you chalk up their loss to the Eagles in Week 1 to jitters, they've had two impressive wins over the Rams in LA (who happen to lead the league in points through 3 games), and the Raiders. They now travel to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football. This will be no easy feat but I like their chances with the points and even to come out with a possible upset. Kansas City has covered the spread in all three of their games, and Vegas will definitely look to balance this out to capture all you KC lovers. The Redskins are 5-1 against the spread as a road underdog of 3.5 to 7 points in the past three seasons. Take the Skins!

Summary:

Rams +6.5

Jets +3

Chargers -1.5

Broncos -3

Redskins +7
