The 100th anniversary of the NFL has ended with the Kansas City Chiefs beating the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV. This is the Chiefs 2nd Super Bowl win, the last coming in Super Bowl IV back in 1970 at Tulane Stadium, they beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7. Len Dawson and the 65 toss power trap of Head Coach Hank Stram led the Chiefs that year.

Flash forward to the 2019 postseason. The Chiefs had to win three playoff games coming from behind. They were down 24 to the Houston Texans and won, they were down 10 to the Tennessee Titans and won. Then on Sunday in Super Bowl LIV the Chiefs were down by ten to the 49ers and they came back with 21 unanswered points to secure the victory.

Patrick Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP, he went 26/42 for 286 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Mahomes even carried the ball nine times for 29 yards and a touchdown. Mahomes told reporters how go the 49ers defense was. " The 49ers defense was so good that I couldn't throw down field as much as I wanted. My credit goes out the 49ers.

Damien Williams had a big game on the big stage, he carried the ball 17 times for 104 yards and one touchdown, he also had four catches for 29 yards and a touchdown.

Tyrek Hill, he was a little quiet despite nine catches for 105 yards, I expected him to score a touchdown or two.

This is the first Super Bowl win for Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. This was also Andy Reid's 222nd win as a head coach. But his first ever World Championship. The Reid Family was very happy. Coach Reid told reporters immediately after the game.. "This is the greatest moment in my life. I have been close but yet so far away. This makes up for what I've to deal with in my career." Coach Reid's, wife Terry, even said he was "calm as a cucumber"

But what happened to the 49ers you might be asking, well it was not good game for Jimmy Garoppolo, he went 20/31 for 219 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions. Raheem Mostert, remember how good he was the NFC Championship game, he was not a factor at all, 12 carries 58 yards and he did have a touchdown. However it was not enough in the end.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was gracious in defeat. He told reporters after the game, "We could not execute late in the game and we had a couple of costly penalties in the game that hurt us. I told my team that I was proud of them and we are looking forward to next year."

The San Francisco 49ers dominated the game for 3 1/2 quarters. They should have stepped on the Chiefs when they were up 20-10. The defense let the 49ers down late as the Chiefs had 21 unanswered points and The 49ers latest pickup Nick Bosa did not have a good game, yes Bosa had one sack but he was not much of a factor in the game at all.

The 49ers have nothing to be ashamed of if you see what has happened..

The 49ers came up short in Super Bowl LIV. But if you look at what they have had to deal with you will see that San Francisco has nothing to be ashamed of. Last year the 49ers finished the season 4-12, so they needed a savior, they got it in Nick Bosa as the 2nd overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. Bosa was named Rookie of The Year and he has nothing to hang his head about this season.

Here's my take on the whole 100th season of the NFL..

When the season started everybody was talking about Tom Brady and the dynasty of the New England Patriots, The question was could they repeat. That question was answered on wild-card weekend. The Cincinnati Bengals were expected to make some noise, Well they will have to wait until draft day, I look for Joe Burrow to go to the Bengals.

The Cleveland Browns were looking forward to making a playoff run, they finished 6-10 on the season and they will have an early draft pick, But if somebody would have told me that the Kansas City Chiefs were going to be World Champions I would have believed it because they did have some unfinished business form last year.

The Biggest Black Eye came on a Thursday night when The Browns and Steelers had a near riot in Cleveland with just a few seconds left in the game so the Browns and Steelers ended any playoff hopes they had.

But the best moments were when the Kansas City Chiefs won three straight playoff games coming form behind in all three games. I haven't forgotten about Bill Cowher and Jimmy Johnson getting the word that they were going into the NFL Hall of Fame, those were the best two moments right their in my opinion.

But the Kansas City Chiefs winning the Super Bowl for the first time in a half/century and head coach Andy Reid holding the Lombardi Trophy for the first time made me so happy because he earned it in my opinion.

So the 1st 100 years of the National Football League is over. Now the question becomes what will happen in the 2nd 100 years. That question will be answered by the players and coaches and front office staff, And yes by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Bottom Line..
