The Vanderbilt Commodores Are The College World Series Champions For 2019. They Defeated The Michigan Wolverines In The 3rd And Deciding 8-2. Mason Hickman And Jake Eder Combined For Fourteen Strikeouts In The Third And Deciding Game On Wednesday Night, As For The Michigan Starting Pitching It Was a Nightmare. Michigan Ace Karl Kauffmann Was Knocked Out Of The Game In The Fourth Inning And The Wolverines Bats Were Silent Almost All Night.

Mason Hickman Struck Out 10 Michigan Batters In Six Innings Of Work And Allowed Only One Hit After Giving Up Three Hits To Start The Game. Hickman Did Settle Down Into a Rhythm That He Had Until He Handed The Game Over To Jake Eder. And Let Me Tell You, Jake Eder Was Hot The Rest Of The Way And That's How The Commodores Of Vanderbilt Won Their 3rd College World Series Championship.

The Other Championships For Vanderbilt Came In 2011 And 2014. Commodores Head Coach Tim Corbin Said Afterwards, " We Set Records This Year That Might Not Be Matched Anytime Soon. The Starting Pitching Was Fantastic And The Bullpen Came Through For Us At The Right Time All Tournament Long."

The Most Outstanding Player For The 2019 College World Series Was Kumar Rocker, And This Guy Can Pitch. Rocker Was The Starting Pitcher In Game 2 Against The Wolverines On Tuesday And He Was Fantastic, And Don't Forget The No Hitter In The Super-Regionals To Get To Omaha. Now I Know This Is Going To Be Tough For Michigan Fans To Take But Kumar Rocker Deserves Some Love And Here's Why.

Kumar Rocker's Numbers In The College World Series...

4-0.

0.96 ERA.

44 Strikeouts.

28 innings Pitched.

AND HE'S JUST A FRESHMAN Y'ALL.

It Was The Vanderbilt Pitching Staff That Got The Job Done.

Now Here's My Take...

The Michigan Wolverines Did Not Throw This Series Away, They Got Beat By The Best Pitching Staff In All Of College Baseball. The Commodores Set a New Record With The Most Strikeouts By a Pitching Staff With 746. The Old Record WAS By The Arizona Wildcats When They 732 Back in 1972. Mason Hickman Was Just Solid, He Only Allowed One Run And Struck Out 13 Batters In 12 Innings pitched In The College World Series. Don't Forget About The MOP Kumar Rocker, You Know About the No Hitter In The Super-Regionals, But Rocker Only Gave Up 2 Earned Runs, He Also Struck Out 17 Batters In 17 1/2 Innings, Now That's Impressive. The Vanderbilt Pitching Staff As a Whole Was Excellent As They Combined For a 2.50 ERA As a Team, They Also Did Average 10.1 Strikeouts Per Nine Innings.

Coach Tim Corbin Made This Comment About The Vanderbilt Pitching, He Said The Following.

" It Was The Bullpen That Did It In 2014. This Time Around It Was The Starting Pitching, But The Bullpen Did Contribute In a Big Way Again."

I ALSO WANT TO EXTEND MY CONGRATULATIONS TO THE VANDERBILT COMMODORES FOR WINNING THE 2019 COLLEGE WORLD SERIES.
