Aaron Hernandez Acquitted
After 40 hours of deliberation over 6 days, a jury has found the former New England Patriots star not guilty on 2 counts of murder of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in 2012. Hernandez is already serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013.
In a rare Patriots mistake, Hernandez was given a 5 year $40 million contract just 6 weeks after the 2012 murders took place. Hernandez played one more year for the Patriots before he was cut in the wake of the Odin Lloyd murder. Hernandez, only 27 years old, would be in the prime of his career right now if not for his off the field issues.
