New York Jets May Be A Wild Card For The AFC In 2015:The Play Action Pass May Be Vital In Order For Jets To Be Successful In 2015

Going into this season I expect the New York Jets to have a conservative type offense because the jets are in a position where have to start Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback due to the fact that Geno Smith has broken jaw that will sideline him until at least October. As a result they can not afford to have a more balanced offense because Fitzpatrick’s main problem when he's passing the ball is that he tends to only look at half of the field during a play and he throws it to the wide receiver who has what seems to be an open window where Fitzpatrick thinks he can fit the ball into often times this issue causes him to throw many interceptions because he either doesn't see the extra defenders nearby or the defenders can read his eyes and make adjustments.

In order to diminish this issue I expect the jets to feature a heavy dose of the run with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell. I expect Chris Ivory to be used in short yardage situations as well normal situations because Ivory has a bigger and stronger upper body as well as a slightly bigger lower half than Powell which will enable him to keep his moving forward while a defensive lineman or linebacker is trying to tackle him on the other hand Bilal Powell will be used in normal to long distance situations because Powell is faster than Ivory and can accelerate thru a hole quicker than Ivory can. Bilal Powell may be used when the jets run the ball towards the outside / sideline to avoid the pounding of running the ball between the tackles

Once the jets make the opposing defense honor the running game by stacking the box then they will incorporate the passing game. The jets may run a lot of play action passes due to the fact that they can fake the handoff to Ivory making the opposing defense believe that he going to run the ball as a result the opposing defense will keep the box stacked this will give the jets receivers more man to man coverage and Ryan Fitzpatrick more open space on the field to throw his receivers to the ball so they can make easier catches thus reducing his interceptions. If the jets follow this game plan the offense will give the defense the proper amount of rest it needs between drives.

When it comes to the jets defense I expect both the run and pass defense to be very good. In terms of the run defense I expect the opposing offensive lines to double team Muhammad Wilkerson at least until Sheldon Richardson gets back from suspension therefore it will be up to Leonard Williams to beat opposing offensive lineman on regular basis and cause havoc in the backfield to get the opposing offensive lines to stop double teaming Muhammad Wilkerson.

In terms of the pass defense I expect the defensive line to get many coverage sacks to the fact that Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie can keep up with the opposing wide receivers step for step which means the QB is holding the ball longer than he wants and most of the time he will either throw it away, up for grabs or take the sacks.
