Blue Jays Heads To Texas In Dramatic Fashion

What was my initial reaction when Edwin Encarnacion hit that home run last night.

Absolute shock.

Yes.  The Toronto Blue Jays move on in the playoffs by a three run homer by Encarnacion in the bottom of the 11th inning, giving the Jays a 5-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles in the American League wildcard game.

Now I wasn't shocked about Encarnacion's homer, I was shocked by Oriole's manager, Buck Showalter's decision.

Now I"m glad the Jays won, but for those Oriole fans that were scratching their heads during the 11th inning, you're not alone.

With two on base, two outs away of ending the inning, Showalter went to the pitching mound.  I thought he was going to pull the pitcher.  After all, he gave up two hits to the first two batters he faced.

When it was clear that Showalter wasn't going to the bullpen, I thought for sure the Orioles were going to intentionally walk Encarncion to set up the double play, but no.

The first pitch Encarnacion sees, he hits it out of the park.

Showalter was quiet about his decision during the postgame press conference.

Don't be surprised if Showalter gets the pink slip in the offseason.

Finally, I want to touch on the ugly incident in the seventh inning.

A Blue Jay fan threw a beer can on the field when the Oriole outfielders was trying to catch a fly ball.

I want to apologized to the Orioles and their fans for that world class idiot.

Please.  Don't paint us with the same brush.  I did not cheer when the incident happened.  In fact, I was disgusted.

As for the fan that threw that can.  SHAME ON YOU!!!
