Sara Zabrecky HS Career Accomplishments

Munster guard and St. John's commit Sara Zabrecky was named your nwitimes Player of the Year for girls basketball last week. So, let us document Sara's top accomplishments during the course of her prep career:

- In Munster's first road win of the season, a 50-45 win over Chesterton in mid-November, Sara contributed 17 points and nine rebounds.

- Scored 27 points and grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds in a 62-54 win over South Bend Adams on Jan. 25 while shooting 13-of-14 from the free throw line.

- Three days later, Zabrecky tied her season-high with 27 points while connecting on four-of-five from beyond the three-point arc in a win at Illiana Christian.

- Provided her hometown crowd with a little Christmas cheer with 26 points, four rebounds, and four steals in a 72-46 win over Calumet on Dec. 21, Munster's last game before holiday break.

- Dished out a season-high six assists during a 65-41 win over Griffith on Jan. 8.

- Played her first three years of prep ball at Lake Central before transferring to Munster for her senior season.

- Scored 23 points for Lake Central during her junior season in a blowout win over Valpo on Jan. 24, 2019.

- In 2018, was part of a Lake Central team that reached the regional finals, a team that included 2018 DAC MVP Lauren Ladowski.

- Took 14 charges for Munster during her senior season (that one's for you, Al).

- Was good for 82 percent from the free-throw line for her senior season.

- In Munster's 66-40 sectional opening-win over Gary West Side, Sara scored 26 points while making four three-pointers.

- Her pregame snack at regionals was a banana. I would know because I was there;).

- Trailing by 15 at halftime of regionals against the host school LaPorte, led her team to a furious comback all the way to the final possession. But down by three, a buzzer-beating jump shot by teammate Kayla Ziel was a couple steps inside the arc as Munster lost to the Slicers, 48-47.

Good luck in New York, Sara!
