LADBROKES CAULFIELD GUINEAS DAY
Race 1 INGLIS DEBUTANT STAKES
The first race is as the name would suggest all unraced two year olds, only half of these horses have trialled so bet at your own peril here. The David Hayes & Tom Daberning runner Wait For No One has been installed favourite, I would watch the Tony McEvoy runner All Eez as he rarely brings a horse east of the border without having legitimate claims. Market and Mounting yard best guide here.
Race 2 HERBERT POWER STAKES
An interesting race over the Caulfield Cup distance with a small field here. The Robert Hickmott trained Assign is the clear top pick and my best of the day. He will strip fitter third up and looks ready to win in what isn’t a strong Group two by any standards. He ran a solid second behind winner Almandin who has been installed third favourite for the Melbourne Cup at $11. Prince Of Penzance and Howard Be Thy Name both are coming out of the Underwood Stakes here at caulfield two weeks ago, Howard Be Thy Name finished off ok and this is easier.
Assign the win
Race 3 THOROUGHBRED CLUB STAKES
Formlines from both Melbourne and Sydney clash here in what is a smart group of three year old Fillies. The Champagne stakes at the Valley looks to be the predominant formline from the melbourne crop, from this race Stop Making Sense was unbelievable from last on the corner to defy the pattern of the night and weave a passage through and run a slashing second to top weight Selenia. Prompt Response was also impressive out the same race and has claims here. In the Vanguard proved herself to be a smart filly last time out finishing second in the Sweet Embrace to Scarlet Rain. I’m risking her here however as it’s a big ask to come down to a turning track such as Caulfield, the other way of going and win.

Race 4 WEEKEND HUSSLER STAKES
Really like how this race sets up for Rageese, the speed will be on and I think he can come down the crown of the track with the last shot at them, He ran really well first up against a really smart one in Hellbent, Out to the 1400m here will suit down to the ground and 5-1 looks a very good price. The obvious danger is the Sydney vistor Chetwood, he is all class and a winner, Will roll along up near the lead and will look the winner at some stage. One for some value here is Rough Justice, loved his run last start here against underrated He’s Our Rokki at 21-1 you can do a lot worse than have him EW.

Race 5 CAPE GRIM BEEF STEAKS
Trusting the Hellbent formline and going with Sheidel, was a cracking run last start, just bumped into one better in Hellbent and 4-1 is a great price and well overs. Should jump either to the front or close to it and just be better than these.I really like Secret Agenda as a racehorse and should run boldly again. Been waiting for Silent Seditation to return unfortunately she’s bumped into a few good ones here in what isn’t her best distance but look for her to be flashing late. Ameristralia was eye catching winning last start but i have my reservations about her backing up on a weeks brake and if she’s up to these. Mossin’ Around, Ravi and Jalan Jalan are next best.

Race 7 SCHWEPPES THOUSAND GUINEAS
Foxplay is the best horse at the right time here and from the perfect gate will get the perfect run. Waller and Bowman don’t make things any better for the opposition either. She has been Uber impressive in her two runs back from a spell and looks to have these covered. Global Glamour was impressive beating Yankee Rose and is a challenger, Harlow Gold is in the top two horses in the field here, I think she’ll be better suited in a Oaks rather than the guineas but still expect her to run well here. Smart Amelia is better suited with some cut out of the ground but at 61-1 I’ll be throwing a few bucks on her EW as a knockout hope.
Foxplay to Win
Race 8 LADBROKES CAULFIELD GUINEAS
In what looks to be a very even Caulfield Guineas I’m leaning towards Divine Prophet, He ran well last start against race favourite Impending, has the better draw here in gate (1), maps to get the right run and happy to take him. Impending is all class and just needs some luck from gate (10) to be right in the finish here. Sacred Elixir was very good winning the lead up race last start here at Caulfield and will be right in the finish.Next best are Hey Doc and Kaching.
Divine Prophet E/W
Race 9 TOORAK HANDICAP
A clash of two of my favourite and underrated horses here in Bon Aurum and He’s Our Rokkii, I’m happy to go with He’s Our Rokkii, Beat Le Bonsir and Co in a canter last start and will only have to produce that effort to go very close here, He’s a winner and with even luck I like his chances. Bon Aurum beat a very handy field to win a group one last start and will be giving Rokki a battle down the straight. Very happy to be with those two for the Quinella. No one can fault Royal Rapture however if he wins again can someone go and test the water down at D K Weirs stable and bring it back for medical research, He’s a marvel. Royal Rapture and Tivaci are next best.
He’s Our Rokkii To win Quinella 3-4
Race 10 SCHILLACI STAKES
I can see all positives and very little negatives here for Star Turn, was huge last start narrowly going down to Astern, he also has form around Capitalist and Extreme Choice last prep, third up with 53kg and C.Williams looks ideal. Malaguerra is unbeaten first up over four attempts but may have just run into one too good here, I think he’ll be filling the placings. Best of the rest are Flamburge and Fell Swoop.
