Predictions for 10/30 College Football Playoff Rankings

Just going to state one thing before I start. With this week being the first week for the committee's rankings, I have no backbone to go off of. So, my predictions may be really off. The format of these predictions be going through the predicted top six in detail, and briefly talking about rankings 7-10. With that out of the way, here is my prediction for the committee's top 10 for the College Football Playoff Rankings.

1. Alabama (8-0)

The number one team in the initial rankings is Alabama. No one has looked better than them this season, and this may be one of their best teams in years. QB Tua Tagovailoa has been amazing for the Crimson Tide. Every team they have played this year they totally demolish, and that may not stop. The one team that has a chance in beating them is their opponent this weekend. That opponent is LSU, who has surprised many on how great of a team they are this season. All I know, every college football fan should watch the game of the weekend.

2. Clemson (8-0)

If Alabama wasn't as dominant, Clemson would be my clear number one team. Sensation QB Trevor Lawrence as looked unstoppable the whole year, and their defensive line is one of the best in the country. No, they don't obliterate every team they face, but they still in hard times find a way to win. Their strength of schedule is decent, with quality wins against Syracuse, NC State, and Texas A&M. The Tigers' remaining schedule is ok, with the games against Duke and Boston College. If they don't lose their last four regular season games and the ACC Championship, they are a lock for a top four spot.

3. Notre Dame (8-0)

Surprisingly, Notre Dame is at number three for these rankings. At the beginning of the year, not many would have picked Notre Dame in the top four. But, with quality wins against Michigan, Stanford, and Virginia Tech their strength of schedule is better than the majority of teams. For once, not having a conference title game may be an advantage for the Fighting Irish. With notable games against Northwestern, Syracuse, and Florida State, it may still be tough to stay undefeated.

4. LSU (7-1)

So far so good for the LSU Tigers. Going 7-1 with a gruesome schedule might set them apart as the best one-loss team. It doesn't help though that their only loss came from Florida, who lost last weekend to Georgia. Having quality wins against Miami, Auburn, Georgia, and Mississippi State shows that they presumably have the best strength of schedule of ranked teams. The only game that will matter for the Tigers is their game vs the Alabama Crimson Tide this weekend. The loser has still will have a chance to make the playoff, while the winner controls their own destiny to the conference title game and the playoff.

5. Michigan (7-1)

The Michigan season so far is successful. With wins against Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Michigan State, they look to be in good shape. Also, they may have the best loss for a one-loss team, losing to Notre Dame in their first game of the season. With quality games left against Penn State and Ohio State, they have the games remaining to strengthen their chances for a top four spot.

6. Georgia (7-1)

Oh Georgia, what are we going to do with you? Their only loss is to LSU, and they have great wins. But, they are inconsistent in my opinion. Every game they play at least average football, but average will not cut it against teams like LSU and Alabama. Their only key game left is against Kentucky, so their only hope might be for one of the teams above of them to lose, and to win the SEC Championship.

Rankings 7-10:

7. Ohio State (7-1)

The loss to Purdue will sting, but a win against Michigan can revive their chances.

8. Oklahoma (7-1)

They definitely pass the eye test, but that loss against Texas and no conference championship game may haunt the Sooners.

9. Washington State (7-1)

Will their signature wins stand out against those of the teams ahead of them? That may be the only thing holding them back.

10. UCF (7-0)

Strength of schedule might haunt UCF again, especially with the best team remaining being Cincinnati.
