Scenarios for College Football Conference Championship Weekend 2018

1. Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State all win

This is the most likely situation this weekend, and would leave the hardest choice for the selection committee. The top three would be Alabama, Clemson, and Notre Dame. That would leave the four spot, with Oklahoma, Ohio State, and maybe Georgia. Georgia can maybe make an argument, depending on how they lose the SEC Championship if they do. A bad loss would completely eliminate them from the picture, but perhaps a last-second field goal from Alabama to win it would maybe give them a chance. The way Ohio State and Oklahoma win their conference championships will matter. If both are close games or Oklahoma crushes Texas and Ohio State barely win, I would bet that Oklahoma would get the nod over the Buckeyes. The only way I see Ohio State getting the fourth spot is if they play like the team that just beat Michigan, and Oklahoma wins but allows Texas to score 40+ points.

My Prediction:

1. Alabama

2. Clemson

3. Notre Dame

4. Oklahoma

2. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Texas win

This would be a little easier for the committee. It would be Georgia vs Ohio State (sorry UCF fans), and unless the Bulldogs really played well, I see the Buckeyes edging them out. There would maybe be outrage if Georgia was in, making it two SEC teams, one ACC, and an Independent. Ohio State fans should just pray for this result, because it would probably give them the best shot.

My Prediction:

1. Alabama

2. Clemson

3. Notre Dame

4. Ohio State

3. Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and Oklahoma win

Cover your eyes Sooner and Buckeye fans. Let's say that Georgia wins, even though the current betting line is -13 for Alabama, then I see a potential rematch of the SEC Championship for the College Football Playoff Championship. I think win or lose, the Roll Tide deserve a spot in the top 4 because of how dominant they have been all season. For Oklahoma and Ohio State, there is always next year.

My Prediction:

1. Clemson

2. Georgia

3. Notre Dame

4. Alabama

4. Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Pitt win

This is the only scenario in my opinion that the Sooners and Buckeyes both get in. I don't believe there is a very great chance, maybe a 10-20% chance, that Pitt will defeat Clemson on Saturday. Pitt has actually been decent this year, having a 7-5 record and defeating Syracuse earlier in the season.
