If the Kansas City Chiefs won and the Oakland Raiders lost, the Chiefs would win the AFC West and clinch number 2 seed in the AFC Playoffs. The Chiefs defeated the San Diego Chargers 37 to 27. The Raiders lost the Broncos 24 to 6. 

With the game tied at 3 in the second-quarter, Phillip Rivers threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Gates. Gates finished with 5 catches for 55 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Alex Smith tied the game with a 5-yard touchdown run. Alex Smith threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Charcandrick West .

With the Chiefs up 20 to 10 in the third-quarter, Jahleel Addae returned a interception 90 yards for a Chargers touchdown. West scored on a 2-yard receiving touchdown from Smith later in the period. Alex Smith finished with 264 passing yards 2 touchdown and 1 interception, along with 21 rushing yards and 1 touchdown. Charcandrick West finished with 58 rushing yards and 5 catches for 58 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.

Before the end of the period, Tyreek Hill returned a punt 95 yards for a touchdown. With the Chargers trailing 37 to 20 in the fourth-quarter, Rivers threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Henry. Rivers finished with 269 passing yards 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

The Chiefs will host either the Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, or Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Divisional Round.
