Fast Start Lifts Penguins

The phrase it's not how you start but how you finish didn't seem to apply to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night. They started the game strong and continued it the whole way in a 5 to 1 victory over the Florida Panthers.

In the first period, Sidney Crosby, Conor Sheary, and Tom Kuhnhackl scored for the Penguins in the opening 7:34 of the game.

In the second period, Jaromir Jagr scored the lone goal of the game for the Panthers. In the third period, Matt Cullen and Carl Hagelin scored for the Pens. On Hagelin's goal, it was an empty net and Matt Murray tried to shoot and score, but it was short and Hagelin tapped it home.

Murray made 28 saves for the Penguins. Roberto Luongo made 25 saves for the Panthers. These teams will play each other one more time this season.
