Florida Panthers Fire Gerard Gallant

It is only November and the Florida Panthers aren't messing around. They have fired Gerard Gallant as head coach and general manager Tom Rowe will take over.

They are 11-10-1 with 23 points to start the year and currently sit 10th in the eastern conference standings. Gallant was 96-65-25 in parts of three seasons with this team. That is a very record, but I guess they are thinking they could do better.

I am sure teams would love to have Gallant and one of them that comes to mind is the New York Islanders. Gallant led the Panthers to the postseason last year, and lost in 6 games to the New York Islanders.

He was doing a good job without having players like Jussi Jokinen, Nick Bjustad, and Jonathan Huberdeau. Maybe it is kind of unfair to fire him with having key players out? It looks that way, but will really see as the season goes on.
