Mets Need to Make David Wright Retire

David Wright has been plagued with injuries throughout his major league career. He is 34 years old and ever since his neck injury, he hasn't thrown a baseball. Well I understand Wright's love and passion for the game, but it would be in the best interest of the New York Mets to force him into retirement.

I don't think that management has enough guts to do it, but he will hurt the team more than help it. It is possible that they might try him at first base, but I think that would also take away from Lucas Duda, along with Michael Conforto and possible prospect Dominic Smith.

I wouldn't have any problems with him around the team and coaching them up, but his days of playing competitive baseball are probably behind him. The infield is already stacked to begin with. Wilmer Flores, Asdrubal Cabrera, Jose Reyes, T.J. Rivera, and Neil Walker.

All of those players were healthy and proved enough that they all deserve to be starters. They also have prospect Amed Rosario who is supposed to be a stud.

The starting infield on opening day should be: third base Wilmer Flores, short stop Asdrubal Cabrera, second base T.J. Rivera/ Neil Walker, and first base Lucas Duda.
