NBA Resting Non-Sense Needs to Stop

Once again last night the Cleveland Cavaliers rested Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love. They were on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers and they lost, what a surprise. Well I am a Cavaliers fan and in ways I am getting sick of this act and so is the rest of analysts, fans, etc.

Many people buy tickets to these games to see superstars like Lebron and Kyrie. How about a couple of weeks ago when the Golden State Warriors decided to rest Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson none the less against the San Antonio Spurs.

So let me get this straight, Golden State rested their players in a big regular season game against San Antonio at the time and it could come back to bite them at the end of the regular season.

The Spurs sometimes do it to with their players. However, with players resting when they don't have injuries in the NBA, it makes them look soft when it is done in the middle of the regular season. If you want them to rest them because they don't have a nagging injury here is what teams should do: Because the fans paid money to see quality players, you play them only ten minutes and then sit them on bench for rest of game.

At least the fans will get to see them. Ten minutes is better than no minutes at all. The only time players should rest in the NBA is if they are injured or if certain teams are locked into certain playoff positioning that they can not improve there seeding. For example if the Boston Celtics can't get the number one seed with two games remaining but can't fall to the three seed, they should rest key players like Al Horford and Isaiah Thomas. That is ok.

You don't see key players in the NHL missing games because of rest and non-nagging injuries. It doesn't happen in the NFL either, unless they are hurt or teams can't improve seeding. The same case is made for the MLB.

All I am saying is players shouldn't need rest and the fans want to see all-stars at these games. If this trend continues, maybe the NBA will tell teams to stop this or they will be fined, but the odds are they probably won't say anything. This wasn't done back in the day either.
