New York Giants Draft Review

The NFL Draft is a time for teams to prepare for the now and the future. In the first round, the Giants drafted tight end Evan Engram.

I thought it was a very good pick for a couple of reasons. The first reason is because they needed a tight end that can stretch the field and be a threat in the passing game. They haven't had that since Kevin Boss or Martellus Bennett.

Engram isn't know as a blocker, but he will also be a legitimate threat in the redzone.

In the second round, they drafted defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson from Alabama. He is a perfect fit for this team because he is a solid run stopper. Tomlinson isn't know for his passing rushing, but he will be a good pair with Damon Harrison.

In the third round, they drafted quarterback Davis Webb from California. He is obviously not going to start for Eli Manning this season, but the Giants hope Webb will be the starter once Manning retires. Webb isn't ready to be a starter today, but one day he will be. Webb will compete with Geno Smith to be the backup.

In the fourth round, the Giants drafted running back Wayne Gallman from Clemson. This is a very good pick for the Giants. I don't think Shane Vereen or Shaun Draughn is the answer for the number two running back behind Paul Perkins.

Gallman has electric speed like Perkins, but Gallman is stronger. Maybe they will split carries and be a dynamic backfield. That would be a good thing for this offense.

In the fifth round, they selected defensive end Avery Moss from Youngstown State. This is an interesting pick for the Giants. He had a monster senior season with 59 tackles, 17.5 tackles for losses, and 11 sacks. Moss will be a project but it has the potential to turn out really well for them.

In the sixth round, they drafted offensive lineman Adam Bistowaty from Pittsburgh. The Giants needed to draft a lineman earlier, but the draft wasn't very strong this season with offensive lineman.

The Giants will pay for it later, but they don't need to at the moment. However, Bistowaty started all four season at left tackle and he can play other spots on the offensive line.

New York had a very good draft.
