The Pittsburgh Penguins weren't satisfied in game 1 despite the victory. They wanted to put the Washington Capitals into a 0-2 series whole, and Pittsburgh did just that in a 6 to 2 victory.

Matt Cullen scored a short-handed goal to start the second period for the Penguins. Matt Niskanen tied the game at one for the Capitals on the power play.

Phil Kessel and Jake Guentzel scored in the second period as well for Pittsburgh.

In the third period, Phil Kessel scored on the power play for the Penguins. Nicklas Backstrom scored in the third for the Capitals.

Evgeni Malkin and Jake Guentzel (empty net) also scored for Pittsburgh in the third.

Patric Hornqvist, Tom Kuhnhackl, and Ron Hainsey left the game with injuries. Marc-Andre Fleury made 34 saves for the Penguins.

Braden Holtby made 11 saves for the Capitals. He was pulled after the second period in favor of Philipp Grubauer, who made 7 saves.

Game 3 is on Monday Night in Pittsburgh.
