New York Giants Offseason Plans

When Head Coach Ben McAdoo took over as Giants Head Coach, he visioned that the team would put the 5th Super Bowl Trophy in the case, but he will have to wait another year to reach that goal. The season ended with bitter disappointment after a 38 to 13 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card Round.

Also, General Manager Jerry Reese, has told Odell Beckham Jr. that he needs to grow up. He had to many emotional problems during the season and also partied in Miami 6 days before the postseason. Eli Manning wasn't fond of some of his decision making this season. Beckham might be the most talented player on the team, but there is a reason why Eli is still a captain.

Speaking of Eli Manning, they have to draft a quarterback for the future and develop him. Ryan Nassib is a free agent and they shouldn't bring him back. At running back, Paul Perkins should be the starter heading into training camp. Rashad Jennings should be the second running back. Shane Vereen does have one more year left on his contract.

If they could a power back in the draft or free agency, that would be good for this team. At Wide Receiver, Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard is the obvious 1-2 combo. I would make the 3 spot an open competition between Victor Cruz, Tavarres King, and Roger Lewis Jr. Adding another WR wouldn't hurt.

I would let Larry Donnell walk. Will Tye is also a free agent. I would bring him back if they feel like they can't upgrade. Jerell Adams is the only tight end currently under contract for next season. I would draft a tight end for sure.

The biggest weak link of the offense this season was the offensive line. Ereck Flowers hasn't gotten any better. Either draft another left tackle and get rid of him or move him to right guard. Justin Pugh and Weston Richburg are the only good offensive lineman on this team. John Jerry, Marshall Newhouse, and Will Beatty are all free agents.

I wouldn't bring any of them back. I would draft at least 2 offensive lineman this offseason. I would also sign a free agent as well.

Is that maybe why the offense struggled this season? They failed to score 30 points in 1 game. They didn't even score 20 points in each of the last 6 games. The offense tired out the defense too much and you can't win a championship like that. The offense has to be solid in order to win a Super Bowl. They only scored 310 points this season, but they gave up 284points.

The Giants were ranked 25th in the NFL with 330.7 yards per game on the offensive side of the ball. They only averaged to score 19.4 PPG.

As for the defense, the signings of Olivier Vernon, Damon Harrison, and Janoris Jenkins were all on the money. It helped improved this defense in a big way. The Giants were ranked 10th in the NFL with allowing 339.7 yards per game. They had 35 sacks and 17 interceptions on defense.

On the defensive line, Jason Pierre-Paul, and Johnathan Hankins are both free agents. I would resign them both. However, Hankins would be a bigger loss than JPP. Romeo Okwara could just fill in for Pierre-Paul's spot. I would also draft some more defensive line depth and linebacker. Other than Devon Kennard and Jonathan Casillas, no one is that spectacular at line backer.

In the secondary, Landon Collins should win defensive player of the year. They should also draft another safety. I would also bring back Robbie Gould as kicker and Brad Wing as punter. Also, they blocked two field goals this season and one of them was returned for a touchdown.
