NFL Bold Predictions in Review

Before the season began, I made bold predictions for each team. With the regular season now in the books, let's see how I did.

NFC: New York Giants: What I said: They would have a top ranked defense.

What actually happened: There defense was a mess all season long and they finished 31st in the NFL.

Philadelphia Eagles: What I said: Carson Wentz would lead the Eagles to the postseason.

What actually happened: Spot on, he threw for 3,296 yards 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He was the reason why the Eagles went 13-3 this season despite tearing his ACL in week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Dallas Cowboys: What I said: Brice Butler would have a better season than Terrance Williams.

What actually happened: It depends how you look at it, Williams had 53 receptions for 568 yards and Butler had 15 receptions for 317 yards and three touchdowns.

Washington Redskins: What I said: Josh Doctson would be a top-10 wide receiver in yardage.

What actually happened: Not even close, he only had 502 yards receiving on the year.

Green Bay Packers: What I said: They would have the worst defense in the NFL.

What actually happened: Close, they were ranked 22nd in the NFL and the Packers will not bring back Dom Capers as the defensive coordinator next season.

Minnesota Vikings: What I said: Dalvin Cook would rush for 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns as a rookie.

What actually happened: He rushed for 354 yards and two touchdowns and Cook tore his ACL in week 4 against the Detroit Lions. Cook would have been on pace close to that if he stayed healthy.

Detroit Lions: What I said: Darius Slay would have eight interceptions this season.

What actually happened: Ding ding ding, he exactly had eight interceptions.

Chicago Bears: What I said: Jordan Howard would win the rushing title.

What actually happened: He finished fifth in the NFL with 1,113 yards. Todd Gurley

won the rushing title with 1,305 yards.

New Orleans Saints: What I said: The Saints would win the NFC South.

What actually happened: Spot on, they won the NFC South with a 11-5 record.

Atlanta Falcons: What I said: They wouldn't be a top 10 ranked offense.

What actually happened: Close, the Falcons were ranked 8th in the NFL in total offense.

Carolina Panthers: What I said: Ron Rivera would get fired at the end of the season.

What actually happened: It's not happening, he led the Panthers to a 11-5 record and the number five seed in the NFC playoffs.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: What I said: O.J. Howard would have more touchdowns at tight end than Cameron Brate.

What actually happened: They both had six touchdown receptions.

Seattle Seahawks: What I said: They would miss the playoffs.

What actually happened: Spot on, they missed the playoffs with a 9-7 record.

Arizona Cardinals: What I said: Tyrann Mathieu would have more interceptions than Patrick Petterson.

What actually happened: Spot on, Mathieu had two interceptions and Petterson only had one.

San Francisco 49ers: What I said: Solomon Thomas would record 14 sacks as a rookie.

What actually happened: He only had three sacks.

Los Angeles Rams: What I said: Jared Goff would not throw for 3,000 yards.

What actually happened: Sean McVay turned his career around and Goff threw for 3,804 yards this season.

AFC: New England Patriots: What I said: Hold off the 19-0 talks, they would lose at least four games in the regular season.

What actually happened: They went 13-3 in the regular season and claimed the number one seed in the AFC. New England was an overturned touchdown away from having four losses in the regular season.

New York Jets: What I said: They would have the worst offense in the NFL.

What actually happened: They were ranked 28th in the NFL in total offense.

Buffalo Bills: What I said: With a new head coach, they would make the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

What actually happened: Spot on, they got the sixth seed in the AFC.

Miami Dolphins: What I said: Jay Ajayi would lost his starting running back job.

What actually happened: He got traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pittsburgh Steelers: What I said: Martavis Bryant would have more touchdowns than Antonio Brown.

What actually happened: Not even close, Brown had nine touchdown receptions and Bryant only had three.

Baltimore Ravens: What I said: No receivers would have 1,000 yards.

What actually happened: Bulls eye, the Ravens leading receiver was Mike Wallace with 748 yards receiving.

Cincinnati Bengals: What I said: Joe Mixon will outplay Jeremy Hill.

What actually happened: Spot on, Mixon rushed for 626 yards on 178 carries and four touchdowns. Hill only rushed for 116 yards on 37 carries. Hill's season ended early because of ankle surgery.

Cleveland Browns: What I said: Cody Kessler would be a top-10 quarterback in passing yards.

What actually happened: He didn't even start a game for the Browns this season. DeShone Kizer was the starter this season for them and the Browns went 0-16.

Tennessee Titans: What I said: DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry would each have 12 rushing touchdowns.

What actually happened: Not close, but Murray had six rushing touchdowns and Henry had five.

Houston Texans: What I said: Lamar Miller would have more receptions than Will Fuller.

What actually happened: Spot on, Miller had 36 receptions and Fuller had 28 receptions.

Jacksonville Jaguars: What I said: Blake Bortles would get benched at some point this season.

What actually happened: It never happened, but he threw for 3,687 yards 21 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Indianapolis Colts: What I said: They wouldn't win more than five games.

What actually happened: Spot on, they finished 4-12 and the Colts will have the number three pick in the NFL Draft.

Los Angeles Chargers: What I said: Hunter Henry would have the most receiving touchdowns on the team.

What actually happened: Henry had four touchdown receptions, but Keenan Allen led the team with six touchdown receptions.

Denver Broncos: What I said: Trevor Siemian would throw for 40 touchdowns.

What actually happened: Not even close, he only threw for 12 touchdowns.

Oakland Raiders: What I said: Derek Carr would throw for 5,000 yards.

What actually happened: He threw for 3,496 yards.

Kansas City Chiefs: What I said: Travis Kelce would have the most yardage and touchdowns in the NFL for a tight end.

What actually happened: Kelce led all tight ends in receptions with 83, but Rob Gronkowski had 1,084 yards compared to Travis Kelce's 1,038 yards. Kelce and Gronk had eight receiving touchdowns and so did Zach Ertz.
