Ottawa and Colorado Will Play Back to Back Games in Sweden Next Season

NHL: Ottawa Senators at Colorado Avalanche

The NHL has decided to go the route of playing games overseas next season. The Colorado Avalanche and the Ottawa Senators will play two games next season in Stockholm, Sweden. It will be a part of the 2017 SAP NHL Global Series, the league announced on Friday.

The games will be played on November 10th and November 11th at the Ericsson Globe. The game on Friday November 10th, will start at 2 p.m. eastern with Colorado being the home team. The game on Saturday November 11th, will start at 1 p.m. eastern with Ottawa being the home team.

Beginning on March 29th at 3 a.m. eastern, tickets will be available for purchase at livenation.se

Ottawa and Colorado will be offering travel packages to this event. This will be the sixth time that the NHL has played a regular season game in Europe, and the first time since 2011.

Players on Colorado that are from Sweden: Gabriel Landeskog, Anton Lindholm, and Carl Soderberg.

Players on Ottawa that are from Sweden: Erik Karlsson, Frederick Claesson, and Viktor Stalberg.

The last time the Ottawa Senators played two games in Sweden was in 2008 against the Pittsburgh Penguins and the teams split the series. They were also one of the four teams to travel to Europe in 2008 to play in the Bridgestone NHL Premiere.

The NHL did a good job about planning this event overseas. Maybe in the near future they can do this more often. They maybe should get some games in Finland, Russia, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

This is good advertising to the league because this is where some of the players came from in the NHL. They feel good about playing where they are from. What the NFL does with these overseas games is a joke half of the time and it isn't good product either.

What the NHL is doing, that is quality product.
