Red Wings Rally Against Bruins

Jared Coreau gave up 3 early goals on 8 shots for the Detroit Red Wings, which lead to them bringing in Petr Mrazek, who made 23 saves. Detroit defeated the Boston Bruins 6 to 5 in a shootout. In the shootout round, Thomas Vanek and Frans Nielsen (game winner and nice backhanded goal) scored for the Red Wings. Brad Marchand was the only one that scored for the Bruins.

In the first period, Frank Vatrano scored twice and  Brandon Carlo scored for the Bruins. Dylan Larkin scored for the Red Wings in the first. Patrice Bergeron scored for the Bruins late in the period.

In the second period, Xavier Ouellet, Andreas Athanasiou, and Tomas Tatar scored for the Red Wings to tie at 4, after being down 3 goals twice in the game. Adam McQuaid scored the lone goal for the Bruins in the period.

With 3:04 remaining in regulation, Gustav Nyquist tied the game at 5 and the rest was history. Tuukka Rask made 20 saves for the Bruins. These teams will play each other 2 more times this season.
