Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

With all the heart ache the San Jose Sharks have dealt with in the past, they felt last season was a step in the right direction. They won the Western Conference and lost in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Pittsburgh Penguins. San Jose has the right veterans and role players to make another deep postseason run.

Goalie Martin Jones was outstanding in the playoffs, and he is only going to get better. He didn't look scared when the pressure was on. Aaron Dell, Troy Grosenick, and Mantas Armalis will compete for the backup goalie job.

Expect these players to step up incase of injury: Micheal Haley, Tommy Wingels, and Barclay Goodrow.

Defensive Pairings: Paul Martin & Brett Burns. Marc-Edouard Vlasic & Justin Braun. Brenden Dillon & David Schlemko.

Expect these players to step up incase of injury: Dylan DeMelo, Julius Bergman, and Mirco Mueller.
