Three Wild Pitches (Paul, Game Speed, Women in Sports)

1) CHRIS PAUL DOESN'T PUT HOUSTON PAST GOLDEN STATE, YET

Sure, the duo of Chris Paul and James Harden may give Houston a more talented backcourt than the Golden State Warriors, if only slightly, but the combo of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant still gives Golden State the best duo in the NBA of any two players. Then, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are leagues ahead of whomever you believe to be the third best player on Houston, whether it be Ryan Anderson, Trevor Ariza, Clint Capela or Eric Gordon. I'd argue Andre Iguodala to be better than all of them too, but the Warriors need to keep him first.

Talent-wise, you have the third best point guard (Paul) and the best shooting guard (Harden), vs. the second best point guard (Curry) and a clear-cut top five two guard (Thompson) who some might consider to be the second best. Harden was my MVP, but Curry would still be MVP if Durant wasn't in Golden State.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is this, Houston's still the third best team in the West, and fourth best in the NBA. Houston bridged the gap, but I can't even guarantee they will be better than the immortal Spurs. The Spurs are still the Spurs, and the Spurs got swept by the Warriors (without Kawhi Leonard). Just saying.

2) TRYING TO UP THE SCORING WHILE SLOWING DOWN GAMES IS CONTRADICTORY

First, baseball commissioner Rob Manfred says that he's trying to speed the game up to make it more appealing and less "slow" for the younger generation. Now, there are reports of the baseballs being "juiced" to allow for more home runs. You can't have it both ways.

If you want the games faster, pitchers duels are what does it. Those 1-0 barn-burners between Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer are the fast games. 8-7, 7-5 or even 5-4 games take at least a half hour longer. The more runs that score, the more batters go to the plate, and the more 5+ pitch at-bats happen. It slows the game down to juice the baseballs, so quit pretending you want faster games. Just saying.

3) WOMEN SHOULDN'T PLAY IN MEN'S SPORTS, AND MEN SHOULDN'T PLAY IN WOMEN'S

I don't mind coaches being girls in men's sports or men in girl's sports, but playing together professionally is way different. I realize this probably pushes a lot of women's buttons, and might even piss them off, but due to genetic differences, especially strength and speed, women don't belong in the NBA. Yes, some professional women might be better than the bottom crop of the NBA, and even more likely the D-League players, but the best woman would probably get crushed even by players like Tony Snell or Marvin Williams.

I'm bringing this up in light of the Serena Williams comments and the girl who's going to kick in college football. Yeah, 700th best in the world is probably extreme, but she'd still get worn down in a full season of tennis. Serena would win her match here and there, but overall the men in tennis would win. As far as the girl in football goes, the NFL is no place for her. College is different, because not all teams have one kicker. Some teams have somebody do kickoffs, and somebody kick field goals. In the NFL, you can't afford to have two kickers, and imagine her being on the kickoff team. Kickoffs have been reduced in the NFL for a reason, because they are the most dangerous events. She couldn't take a backup inside linebacker head on while running downfield to try and make a tackle, that she might not even make.

Look, women can coach, women can commentate, and women can support the NFL, NBA, and men's sports in general. But if they try to play, they won't be good and might even get hurt more often, and that's not going to change until evolution makes that happen. I'm not trying to offend anyone here, I'm just saying.
