Detriot Basketball Is Back
In my recent post which was month ago i told ya my frustuation with this team a lot change since then at that point we was 5 -23 losing games and dead last in offense shooting and last in opponet field goal percenatge. but a couple of weeks we let go of josh smith who was holding drummond and monroe back since we release him we are 9-1 in our last ten games. brandon jennings is playing to his potential he is averaging 20 pts and 8 assists a game on 47% field goal percentage.
Jennings is taking smarter shots his passing game is very underated he proved me wrong. drummond is just a beast he playing his role very well defense rebounds and hustle points his free throw percentage drop but thats because he getting more touches depends on matchups. he is 2nd in the nba in rebounds at one point he was averaging 18 rebounds a game. he the main part of the franchise. Its important for stan van gundy to get monroe to resign with us in the offseason cause him and drummond is one the best frontcourts duel in the league. in the last 8 games monroe been averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds a game even doe he not a top defender he the best pistons post defender i personally think he has the best post game in the league and a good passer for a big man.
On this streak the pistons beat a lot of quality teams it all started when they played the cavs on a sunday night. that night they hit a franchise career 17 threes everybody was on fire then they got past a couple of non playoff teams like the knicks, pacers and the kings. but they needed every win they could get so every game is important. the next week thats when the test came they had to go on a 2 game road trip in the west vs the spurs and mavs on back to back nights. vs the spurs they was down 17 in the first quarter score was 20 to 37 spurs was shooting 50% from the field but things change van gundy made a few lineup changes and the pistons stormed they way back into the game. Dj augustin was getting in the paint easily in the 2nd half the game came down to the final seconds pistons was down 1 point with with 8 secs left in the game brandon jennings stole in from tim duncan ran down the court and hit a game winner floater at the buzzer pistons won 105 to 104.
They should a lot of heart that game the next night they had to play a dallas team who was on a 6 game winning streak themselves the pistons showed no signs of fatigue that game they dominate most of the game monroe killed dallas down low he finshed with 27 points 18 rebounds and 6 assists put on a show. play good dj augustin too he finshed with 26 points half of them came in the 4th quarter dallas had a hard time guarding him on the pick and roll. after that game everybody started to notice that the pistons were coming. next game they had to play the alanta hawks who has the best record in the east and the 3rd best record in the nba. pistons got off to slow start that game they look very tired and sluggish they was down 23 in the half , went in into halftime down 19. 2nd half they came out hitting threes that night they shot a franchise how 42 threes some was dropping but it got them back in the game it came down to the final secs after al horford lost the ball with 3 secs left. pistons had a chance to send it to ot but kcp three fell short and they lost 106 to 103 this was a good lost showed a lot of growth and heart this game.
The next two games they beat a rebuilding nets team and they played the raptors who has the 3rd best record in the east they was getting killed by jonas valanciunas he was beatin drummond in the post so the pistons out monroe on him. valancinas had 20 points and 10 reb at half pistons could not figiure out how to stop him they was down 48 to 61 at halftime. in the second half pistons got hot jennings just took over 15 points and in the third quarter and hit 4 threes in the 4th quarter pistons made big plays jodie meeks caught fire had 10 in the 4th it was a back in forth game. jonas jerebko hit to big midrange jumpshots to put them up 3 in the final minute. including a diving pass to jodie meeks for a three to beat the shot clock to put them up 4 with 50 secs left. with the pistons up 3 with 5 secs left brandon jennings stole the ball from kyle lowry and they hung on to win 114-111 jennings had 34 and 10 to end the game it was a great ending.
The pistons are now 14-24 and 2 games out of the 8th spot and 2.5 games out of the 7th spot by the end of the season they should have that 7th spot the rest of the league better watch out this is a team that could get to the eastern confernce finals in my belief. Go pistons go
