Mets hold off Marlins, win second straight series to start the season

The Mets lit up Marlins starter Jose Urena today, taking a 5-0 lead in the first. With Jason Vargas on the mound, they needed all the run support they could get. Vargas went 5 innings, and only gave up 2, but 8 hits scattered over that time. Seth Lugo struggled out of the bullpen again as well, giving up 3 runs over 1.1 innings. Also scarily for the Mets, Brandon Nimmo's first RBI of the season may have been costly, a bases loaded HBP on the hand. The Marlins looked poised to steal it in the 9th, with 2 on and 1 out, but a liner right at Rosario started a game ending double play, and the Mets hung on, 6-5. Just 5 games into the season, the Mets are 4-1 and have totaled 51 hits in that time. Plenty of offense going around for the Amazins, and with deGrom on the bump tomorrow, they look to secure their first sweep of the season.
