Heels Land Transfer RB and High School K

Sunday was a big day on the recruiting trail for the Heels as they landed two players that could have immediate impacts in Chapel Hill. The day started with the Heels landing 2017 K Noah Ruggles. Ruggles was the number one uncommitted kicker in the country and is a huge pickup for the Heels. In his career at Steinbrenner High School in Lutz, FL, Ruggles was 17 of 25 on field goal attempts in his career, including a long of 57. Ruggles has been rumored to have a leg that can reach from 65+ yards. Ruggles strong leg helped him net 53 touchbacks in his high school career. With Nick Weiler graduated and moving on, Ruggles will come in and compete right away for the starting job.

Just a few hours later, the Heels landed Auburn transfer RB/WR Stanton Truitt. Truitt was a flexible option that was used only occasionally at Auburn, totaling just 47 touches for 371 yards in three years. The Heels will more than likely use Truitt at running back, where he spent the most time in Auburn. Truitt becomes the most experienced running back in the Carolina backfield, meaning he should be able to compete for the starting job immediately. Truitt will have two years of eligibility remaining and will be eligible immediately.
