Heels Steals Former USC OL Khaliel Rodgers

For the second time this month the Heels have landed a transfer along the offensive line. This time the Heels flipped former USC offensive lineman/defensive lineman Khaliel Rodgers. Back in January, Rodgers committed to play for Iowa State this upcoming year. Instead he will be in Chapel Hill this fall and could see a ton of playing time. Rodgers has started games at both guard(3) and center(6) making him a flexible option. Last season, Rodgers was moved to defensive tackle due to a lack of depth along the defensive line. He would eventually move back to the offensive side of the ball after an injury at center.

Rodgers brings more much needed depth to a rebuilding offensive line. With Florida transfer Cameron Dillard likely starting a center, Rodgers will likely compete for one of the starting guard positions, which may allow the Heels to kick R.J. Prince out to offensive tackle. Rodgers will not join the team until the fall, though.

Rodgers is now the third transfer to join the Heels this offseason, joining Dillard who committed early this month and Stanton Truitt who committed back in January. The Heels may not be done on the transfer market either, as it seems the Heels will add a transfer quarterback to the quarterback battle that is currently raging to replace Mitch Trubisky. Brandon Harris, the former LSU quarterback will be on campus later this week and former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire is set to make his decision in mid-April. Not to mention quarterbacks that may choose to hit the transfer market after losing spring camp battles. The Heels are working the transfer market like never before. Now it's time to see if it will pay off.
