Recruiting Profile: Marcus McKethan
In this edition of the Heel Tough Blog's Recruiting Profile series, we get to meet Marcus McKethan. McKethan hails from Barnwell High School in Barnwell, South Carolina. McKethan was rated the No. 41 OG in the 2017 class and will bring some much needed size to the offensive line. McKethan is one of three lineman the Heels bring in in this class that is 6-5 or taller. McKethan measures in at 6-6, 328 lbs. McKethan saw time along the defensive line as well, tallying 24 total tackles in his career. McKethan was also on the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas roster for South Carolina.
On film, McKethan is a mauler in the run game. He stands defensive lineman straight up right off the snap. This allows him to create massive holes for his running back. McKethan’s athleticism is impressive, especially for his size. He is able to pull from the tackle spot with no issues and gets downfield rather well. Most of McKethan’s film shows run blocking situations, so pass protection remains a bit of an unknown.
McKethan committed to Carolina back on June 22nd last year, but won't be on campus until the fall. When McKethan gets there, he'll be competing for playing time on a struggling offensive line.
