A few weeks ago there were reports that Seattle might sign free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick before the start of the 2017 season. Now that Seattle has signed Austin Davis, it would appear that they have no intention of signing Kaepernick. Davis has started just ten games in his career and has not taken the field since 2015.

Davis was behind quarterbacks Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch on the Denver Broncos roster.

Pete Carroll did say that Kaepernick is "a starter in this league."

Gregg Bell does his best to explain the reasoning behind Seattle signing Kaepernick:

Basically Seattle already has a solid starting quarterback and there is no reason for the organization to grab another starting quarterback right now.

Some of Kaepernick's stats the last two seasons:

1) QBR - 55.2 (2016), 47 (2015)

2) Yards gained per pass completion - 11.4 (2016), 11.2 (2015)

3) Touchdown passes - 16 (2016), 6 (2015)

4) Games started - 11 (2016), 8 (2015)

5) Interceptions - 4 (2016), 5 (2015)

6) Quarterback rating - 90.7 (2016), 78.5 (2015)

7) Completion rating - 59.2 (2016), 59 (2015)
