Eagles Embarrassed at HOME; Worst loss in the Chip Kelly Era!
This is my first article on this new blog site. I love Philadelphia sports so much that I've decided to have my own little blog site. So here it goes.
Two days ago (Sunday afternoon), I watched one of the worst losses in all my years (20 years, nearly two decades that's a very long time) of watching the Philadelphia Eagles. It was so bad that I couldn't even write this after the game that's how embarrassed and pi$$ed I was. I decided to just take a day and rap my head around this awful loss and listen to the radio (97.5 the Fanatic) and listen to other fans vent.
The Eagles came into the game coming of a tough one point loss to the Miami Dolphins losing 20-19 after leading 16-3 after the first quarter. Anyways they got blown out by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (who only won two games last season and have a rookie quarterback) at home 45-17. The first drive they actually fumbled the ball which was recovered by the Bucs and then they fumbled (Bucs did) and the Eagles recovered the ball. Eagles caught a major break as it appeared that Jacquies Smith, (who recovered the fumble and then fumbled the ball) knee was down. The referees looked at the replay and determine that his knee (Smith) wasn't down and that he fumbled before his knee touch the ground. The play was upheld and ruling stood on the field. The Eagles drove down field and scored on a 39 yard touchdown pass from Mark Sanchez to Josh Huff and the Eagles were up 7-0 (It was there only lead of the game).
On the Tampa Bay's third drive Bucs running back, Doug Martin had a 58 yard run that lead to a receiving touchdown by Mike Evans later on in the drive. The Eagles got the ball back and three and out. The Bucs drove down field again and took the lead 14-7. The next three drives were three and outs (two by the Eagles). Doug Martin had another huge run (84 yards) that lead to another receiving touchdown by Russell Shepard and the Bucs were up 21-7. The next drive, the Eagles go down field and score a touchdown by Darren Sproles (receiving) to make 21-14. The very next drive the Bucs go down field and score again to make it 28-14. Mark Sanchez throws an interception with 23 seconds left.
The second half started with the Bucs having the ball and keeping it for nearly ten minutes (15 plays in 9:47) and scored in the process to make it 35-14. The Eagles got the ball finally and after eight plays punted the ball. The next Bucs drive took 11 plays in about five minutes, they scored a field goal to make it 38-14. Sanchez on the next drive threw another interception. With little less than four minutes left the Eagles didn't go for it on fourth down, instead they go for the field goal to make it 38-17. WTF would you go for a field goal STUIPD! The game is over who cares if you go for it on fourth whatelse do you after to lose. This just pi$$ed me off even more than I was. To make things worse the Bucs get a pic six by Lavonte David to seal the deal and make it 45-17. At this point most of the fans had left and gone home, I believe I heard most left in the midway through the third.
Finally, my final thoughts on this awful, terrible game is this team showed no heart, no fight, no leadership nothing. You have players on the defense laughing with rookie quarterback, Jameis Winston. What a Freaking Joke! The two press conferences (after the game and the day after) by the head coach of this team (he who shall not be named) was pitiful. This was the worst home loss in nearly ten years (loss to the Seattle Seahawks 42-0 in December, 2005, Reggie White Jersey Retirement night). I hate this coach (again he shall not be named), he needs to go back to college.
