Rod Brind'Amour Inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame
Last night, the Philadelphia Flyers honored former Flyer and NHL star Rod Brind'Amour was inducted into the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame joining the likes of Eric Desjardins (also inducted this season), John LeClair and Eric Lindros (both inducted last season).
Brind'Amour started his career with the St. Louis Blues and was traded to the Flyers after the 1990-1991 season, he spent nine seasons with the Flyers playing 633 games. As a Flyer he ranks 7th all-time in assists with 366, 10th in goals with 235 and 9th overall in points with 601 In the middle of the 1999-2000 season Brind'Amour was traded for Keith Primeau and Jean-Marc Pelletier. Before the 2005-06 season he was named the Hurricanes Captain. He won a Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes in 2006 and retired after the 2009-2010 season. He finish his NHL career playing in 1484 games, scoring 452 goals, recording 732 assists and recording 1,184 points. In December, 2006 he recored his 1,000 career point and in February, 2007 scored his 400th career goal. The Hurricanes retired his jersey on February 18, 2011.
Rod Brind'Amour was a very good player. He was a fan favorite in Philly and was the alternate Captain, he was a true leader on and off the ice. He played with heart and passion every night and that's why he is one of the most beloved Flyer of all-time. It was an honor watching him get inducted into the Flyers Hall of Frame last night as he gave a wonderful speech.
Finally, the Flyers organization does it right when they honor former players, I always enjoy watching it on TV. Even if the player doesn't go into the Flyers Hall of Frame they still find away to honor the fan favorites/beloved players. He was one of my favorite players growing up, I first started really watching hockey in 1997 when they went to the Stanley Cup.
THANK YOU ROD BRIND'AMOUR
