Penn State could still play in Big 10 championship game.
Hi everybody. I saw something the other day that got my attention. And it's the honest truth and that is Penn State has a chance to win the Big 10 east and play for the Big 10 championship. It's a outside chance grant you. But it's a possibility and you will see why. We actually have a 3 team race in the Big 10 east between Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. I am going to give you the scenarios for what could happen for Penn State to spoil the Party for Ohio State and Michigan.
1st, Ohio State: All the Buckeyes need to do is just keep winning. The 6th ranked Buckeyes are 8-1 this season. They have 2 games left Before Michigan Comes to town on November 26th. The Other 2 games are against Maryland and Michigan State. The Buckeyes are favored by 20 points in both games and the FPI gives them a 80% chance of winning the next 2 games. But believe it or not, Ohio State needs help from Michigan because if Michigan Loses one of the next 2 games. Then Penn State could get in because all three teams will have 1 loss in Big 10 Play and Penn State owns the 2nd tiebreaker because of the head to head. Why because they did beat Ohio State earlier in the season. All Ohio State needs to do is win the next 3 games to take the Big 10 east and clinch a spot in the Big 10 championship game. And a possible playoff birth as well.
Michigan: The 2nd ranked
WOLVERIENS are undefeated at 9-0 this season.They have 2 easy games themselves before they have to go to Columbus for the Showdown at the shoe. But before that. They have 2 games coming up. The 1st game is against Iowa and Michigan is favored by 20 points. The 2nd game is against Indiana. Michigan is favored by 20 points or more in the next 2 games and the FPI has given Michigan an 80% chance of winning the Next 2 games before the Showdown with Ohio State. So Michigan needs to keep winning to ensure a battle for a top 4 spot in the College Football playoff at the end of the season and a trip to Indianapolis for the Big 10 championship game.
Penn State: The 12th ranked NITTANY Lions are 7-2 this season. They have 3 games left as well, Rutgers, Indiana and Michigan State. I don't see them losing the rest of the way. The NITTANY Lions have a outside chance of playing for the Big 10 Championship. All they have to do is win out .They also Need Michigan to lose one of the next 2 games before they play Ohio State because keep in mind Ohio State has the 1st tiebreaker. If Michigan Loses before they play Ohio State all 3 teams will be 9-1 in conference play. Why Does this matter Because Penn State has the 2nd tiebreaker. They beat Ohio State head to head earlier in the season.
This Big 10 season has been crazy. Here's my take I don't see Michigan losing the Next 2 games before the Showdown at the shoe. I don't see Ohio State losing to Maryland or Michigan State before Michigan comes to town. I don't see Penn State losing the rest of the way either. But anything can happen. So just in case you are confused here's the scenarios again so you understand what I am talking about. Michigan just keep winning and Don't lose before you go to Columbus. Why Because Ohio State has the 1st tiebreaker. Penn State hope for Michigan to lose and win the next 3 games. Because you have the 2nd tiebreaker because all three of you will be 9-1 and you did beat Ohio State and you could still get in the Big 10 title game. In closing you think the Big 10 east was hard for me. I don't even want to talk about the Big 10 west.
