Former NFL WR Michael Jackson dies in motorcycle accident

Former NFL wide receiver Michael Jackson was killed in a motorcycle accident this morning in his hometown of Tangipahoa Louisiana around 1 a.m. Local time Wednesday morning. He was riding his Kawasaki at a high speed when a 20 year old driver pulled out of her parking spot into both driving lanes, Jackson's bike collided with the car killing the driver as well.

Jackson's best season came in 1996 when he tied for the league lead with 14 touchdown receptions and finished 6th with 1,201 receiving yards. He played in the NFL from 1991-1998 with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens.

MJ would return home to Louisiana where he would become mayor of Tangipahoa from 2009-2013. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this tough time.

My thoughts from my conversations with Mr. Jackson:

Man when you get into sports media you run across new people and some friendships form, but when some of those same people support your growth they become family you never had. I was saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Michael D. Jackson, he was the first pro athlete I ever interviewed while with my bros at 4HFA. He was a humble and down-to-earth person that loved to help others. He told me during one of our conversations that, if you don't help others then what's your purpose? The world could use more people like MJ, may God wrap his arms around his family at this time.
