Maryland President Wallace Loh says North Carolina deserves the "Death Penalty"

NCAA Basketball: Wisconsin at Maryland

While the North Carolina Tarheels are celebrating their sixth national title in men's basketball, Maryland president Wallace Loh is putting his spin on the academic investigation that has been going on since 2010.

Loh strong statements about giving the school the "Death Penalty" rang strong in his statement:

As president, I sit over a number of dormant volcanoes. One of them is an athletic scandal. It blows up, it blows up the university, its reputation, it blows up the president.

For the things that happened in North Carolina, it's abysmal. I would think that this would lead to the implementation of the death penalty by the NCAA. But I'm not in charge of that.

This statement sent sound waves and got back around to tarheel country and vice chancellor of communications Joel Curran answered through an email to ESPN:

"We were surprised that a sitting university president with no direct knowledge of our case would choose to offer such uninformed and highly speculative opinions,"

Loh made himself clear but we all know that since no one has been charged that no actions will be taken... yet. This school has muscle and if we learned anything from the Penn State scandal is that suspensions, loss of scholarships and fines will be handed out, so if Loh is waiting he'll be blue in the face.

NCAA Basketball: Final Four Championship Game-Gonzaga vs North Carolina

By the way coach Roy Will Williams is sticking by his players and school. He made comments before the national championship game and his statement was:

Were there some mistakes made? You're darned right there were. Were there some things I wish hadn't happened? You're darned right. But there were no allegations against men's basketball," Williams said. "Do I believe again that our institution, there were some mistakes, you're darned right I do. I'm very mad, sad, ticked off, any way you want to put all that terminology about it, embarrassed and all those things too.

This investigation has been going on 7-years and may go on for a couple of more but it's far far from over.
