OJ Simpson paroled, but what's next for Simpson?
OJ Simpson is voted by a parole board to be released after more than eight years of a 33-year sentence for robbing and kidnapping. He was part of a hotel heist in a Nevada that involved to memorabilia dealers. He could be released early as October 1st.
The board deliberated for a little bit over 30 minutes. He will relocate to Florida as part of his agreement upon release as he starts life once more now at 70-years old.
There are stipulations involved upon his release as he will be held responsible for any of his actions including alcohol use and drug use. He must obey ALL laws, which was made totally clear by one parole board member.
Simpson has 4 children that he said that he has missed dearly since his incarceration. One of the men that he robbed actually took the stand in his defense, Bruce Fromong said that Simpson is a "good man" and that he never pointed a gun at him. He also said that the two will remain friends.
So what's next you might ask for the 70- year old former NFL star and actor? He may return to selling memorabilia and signing autographs even after being convicted ten years ago for robbery, but it will be in another state. He also told the board that he was part of the prison's first Baptist service and that he had become a commisioner of an 18-team softball league.
Simpson will be living off his NFL pension too, which is anywhere from $47-$100 thousand a year, depending on how he set it up. He also still has that big civil suit that involed the family's of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.
Whatever the future may hold for him I hope that he has finally found out how to live life outside of negativity and regain his claim to fame.
