The New England Patriots have finally parted ways with Jimmy Garoppolo after about a year worth of trade rumors. They send him to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2nd round in the 2018 draft.

The former 2nd round pick started in Tom Brady's absence last season and was very effective throwing 4 touchdowns and completing 71% percent of his passes.

The 49ers immediately released QB Brian Hoyer upon trade completion, so look for Hoyer to maybe end up back in New England where he played under Belichick from 2009-2011. He was originally included in the trade but he was taken off for compensation reasons.

Garappolo will not play Sunday vs Cardinals, but will soon be inserted into the 49ers lineup.
