"The Stack" 10-11-19

The New England Patriots defense and special teams were once again outstanding, scoring two touchdowns as the Patriots thumped the weaponless New York Giants 35-14. Oh yeah, Tom Brady had two rushing touchdowns as well.
The Stack is back on this Football Friday and boy, it was difficult for the New England Patriots last night for most of the game. Give the New York Giants credit. They played hard and played really well defensively, but the Patriots were able to win 35-14. Fear not, we will be talking about the NBA and China sometime next week, but for now, we’re going to make some picks for week 6 in the NFL in “the stack” for today, Friday, October 11th:
3-2 Carolina Panthers @ 2-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 9:30 AM ET NFL Network (London)
London still does not get a game featuring two teams with above .500 records. Given how hot the Panthers have been the last three weeks, it is hard not to pick them. Christian McCaffrey is again going to have a big game and the Panthers will win their fourth straight.
Prediction: Panthers 26 Bucs 20
3-2 Philadelphia Eagles @ 3-2 Minnesota Vikings 1 PM ET FOX
Oh no. What Kirk Cousins are we going to get? Because he is facing a good team, it means he is going to struggle and the Vikings will lose, right? Certainly possible. The Eagles offense has not been great, but their defensive line has been very good. They are the best at stopping the run which means it may be hard for Dalvin Cook. At the end of the day though, it is a home game and I will go with the home team in this one.
Prediction: Vikings 27 Eagles 20
0-5 Washington @ 0-4 Miami Dolphins 1 PM ET FOX
Yuck. This is the Trash Bowl. I don’t even want to pick it. But I have to. I honestly could see Miami winning it.
Prediction: Washington 20 Miami 17
3-2 Houston Texans @ 4-1 Kansas City Chiefs 1 PM ET CBS
Best battle of the week in terms of QBs…Deshaun Watson versus Patrick Mahomes. The health of Mahomes and his ankle is a concern, but they I think will make the necessary adjustments and beat the Texans in a high-scoring affair.
Prediction: Chiefs 34 Texans 27
4-1 New Orleans Saints @ 2-3 Jacksonville Jaguars 1 PM ET FOX
I so want Gardner Minshew II and his mustache magic, but it is so hard to go against Teddy Bridgewater and what he is doing in place of Drew Brees right now. I hope I’m wrong, but I feel like I have to go with the Saints.
Prediction: Saints 23 Jaguars 19
4-1 Seattle Seahawks @ 2-3 Cleveland Browns 1 PM ET FOX
The Seahawks have had a few extra days to prepare for the Browns while the Browns have had a short week after getting blown out by the 49ers on MNF. I’m still not sold on the Seahawks and I think the Browns have to come through with a win here soon at home. They have alternated losses and wins so far this year. It’s time for a W.
Prediction: Browns 23 Seahawks 20
0-5 Cincinnati Bengals @ 3-2 Baltimore Ravens 1 PM ET CBS
The Bengals have looked atrocious so far this year. Despite Lamar Jackson’s recent struggles, the Ravens will have no problems whooping the Bengals.
Prediction: Ravens 30 Bengals 13
4-0 San Francisco 49ers @ 3-2 Los Angeles Rams 4:05 PM ET FOX
This 49ers team is really good. They are balanced on offense and their defense has been awfully good. But they are going against a desperate Rams team. If the Rams lose this one, their season may be down the tube. The defense will respond and the offense will be balanced and they will find a way to beat the 49ers.
Prediction: Rams 27 49ers 16
1-4 Atlanta Falcons @ 1-3-1 Arizona Cardinals 4:05 PM ET FOX
This is another yucky game on the week. The Falcons have been a huge disappointment so far this year and their defense can’t stop anyone. Kyler Murray should be able to pick apart the defense, even for a rookie. But at the end of the day, he is a rookie, and I can’t see the Falcons dropping this one.
Prediction: Falcons 23 Cardinals 17
3-2 Dallas Cowboys @ 0-4 New York Jets 4:25 PM ET CBS
The Cowboys beat the bad teams and lose to the good teams. The Jets are a very bad team. They are getting quarterback Sam Darnold back, but it won’t matter. The Cowboys roll.
Prediction: Cowboys 27 Jets 10
2-3 Tennessee Titans @ 1-4 Denver Broncos 4:25 PM ET CBS
The Titans win games they shouldn’t and lose the games they should win. They should win this game. Inexplicably, the Broncos are 2.5 point favorites. I don’t know why. But I will go with the Broncos in a low scoring affair.
Prediction: Broncos 16 Titans 13
1-4 Pittsburgh Steelers @ 2-3 Los Angeles Chargers 8:20 PM ET NBC
The Steelers are starting a rookie quarterback from Samford. Samford! SAMFORD!! There is no way the Chargers will be as bad as they were last week against the Broncos, right. Right?! RIGHT?!! Austin Ekeler and Melvin Gordon, lead us to the promised land.
Prediction: Chargers 31 Steelers 10
