Brandon Bass has agreed to a veteran minimum contract with the Los Angles Clippers Vertical report Shams Charania reported yesterday. The San Antonio Spurs were very interested in Brandon Bass and wanted to sign him to shore up their already solid front-court. I am really stunned that Brandon Bass decided to join the Los Angles Clippers over the San Antonio Spurs from a organizational standpoint and as a fan of the Spurs. The Los Angles Clippers still don't know if they will even keep Blake Griffin or even Chris Paul for that matter. The San Antonio Spurs have won five NBA Championships and built a dynasty. However, in that same time period the Clippers have been lucky to make to the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Brandon had a chance to play on a championship quality with the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs would have had the best front-court in the league if Brandon Bass had signed. I guess playing for your former coach in Doc Rivers and playing in the city were you live is more important than your first championship ring. I am glad he made the decision that would make him happier in the long run. The Los Angles Clippers should have a solid year this year and will probably come up short in the second round again. The good news for Brandon Bass is the Clippers should be healthier this year. I am also optimistic that Spurs can still sign one more big man for veteran minimum. I think this would have been a great move for the San Antonio Spurs and Brandon Bass. I am intrigued to see who the San Antonio Spurs will bring in to be the fourth big on the roster. I trust the Spurs organization will be working the phones and will have a solid player signed in the next week. The Spurs already have a championship caliber roster in place and they will become very dangerous with one more big. What do you think did Brandon Bass make the right decision?
