2017 NCCAA Division I Basketball National Championships: Day 3

The consolation brackets will finish up throughout the day on Friday.  

In the 1 PM game for 7th place on the men's side, Life Pacific pulled off a 92-85 victory over Hiwassee.  Life Pacific had 3 players (Blake Terry, Ramez Michail, and Edgardo Campos) who all scored at least 20 points in the contest.  Terry lead all scorers with 25 points throughout the day.  

This week was not kind to the Crowley's Ridge Lady Pioneers.  The Lady Pioneers took 2 tough losses on Wednesday and Thursday and took another one on Friday.  Bluefield knocked off Crowley's Ridge 83-56.  Courtney Kendrick and Whitney Smith both scored 13 points to lead Bluefield.  Hannah Willard of Crowley's Ridge lead all scorers with 29 points.

Dallas Baptist was able to overcome an opening round loss to Ohio Christian and put together a strong showing throughout the consolation bracket.  They capped their week off with a 95-64 win over Central Baptist to secure a fifth-place finish at the NCCAA Division I National Tournament.  Senior Myles Johnson lead all scorers with 31 points on the day.  Johnson was also announced as a member of the All-Tournament team following his final collegiate game.  

The Grace Lady Lancers and Southwestern Christian Lady Eagles had a battle that came down to the final seconds.  Kelsie Peterson hit a late free throw to give Grace a 64-63 lead.  Southwestern Christian had 4 shots and 3 offensive rebounds in the last 24 seconds, but were unable to capitalize on their chances.  Grace managed to walk away with a 64-63 victory and a 5th place finish.

Haley Richardson scored 18 points in her final collegiate game and was named to the All-Tournament Team.  Pam Miller added 8 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Lancers as well.
