Cardinals beat Cubs in Home Opener
Hello Everybody, The Cubs World Series has gotten off to a Not So good start as they fell to their rivals, the St Louis Cardinals 4-3 on Sunday Night.
Randall Grichuk was fantastic at the plate, He went 2-4 with 3 RBI'S and he had the 2-run Homer in the eighth.
The Pitching was fantastic for St Louis as well on Sunday Night.
Carlos Martinez went 7.1 innings only allowing 6 hits and he had 10 Strikeouts.
As for the Cubs it was not a good start to a world series title defense.
But the had some highlights themselves.
Kyle Schwarber, Welcome back man, He went 2-3 but he did have a strikeout in his return.
Jose Contreras the man responsible for tying it in the ninth.
he went 2-4 with 1 run and 3 RBI's. He hit the 3-run-homer in the ninth to tie it up.
The Pitching for the Cubs was not the best.
This Comes despite the Fact that Jon Lester went 5 innings along with strikeouts. But he did allow a run, 2 walks and 7 hits along the way.
The Cubs Title defense is off to a not so good start. Cubs Manager Joe Maddon was pleased about the 3-run homer that tied the game in the ninth. He Said it was a good at bat for Contreras and he made it possible for us to get back into the game. But we came up short in the end. But it's only the first game and we have a chance to recover form it.
Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny was very happy about the win last night. Matheny told reporters after the game, " We are back in a big way in St Louis. We missed the playoffs last year. We were injury plagued last year and we didn't have a chance because the Cubs Were Red Hot." Matheny also told reporters that the Cubs could be the team to beat this season again. But we have Dexter Fowler now and maybe he can bring some of the Magic from last year down to St Louis. And Maybe we can win it all this year.
The Cubs Season has started with a Loss. Here's My take, The Cardinals got off to a great start. There Pitching was fantastic and they have everybody back from injury. The Cardinals could be the team to beat this year in the very Tough NL Central. It could come down to a late season showdown between the Cubs and Cardinals to see who wins the Division. And I will say it now The Cards are BACK!!!! in A BIG WAY!!!!!.
But overall who's the Biggest Threat for the Cubs this season. In My opinion it's the Cleveland Indians. They lost the World Series to the Cubs after leading 3-1 in a best of 7. But Some People are saying The Cardinals because they have everybody back and it showed on Sunday Night. But another threat Looms. The LA Dodgers could be a threat. They have Clayton Kershaw the best pitcher in the Dodger Rotation and everybody knows he wants a measure of revenge after Blowing Game 6 of Last Year NLCS. So don't count the Dodgers out either because when they healthy they can be a nightmare.
Opening night is over and it's a very long season and we a just getting started so let's not make any postseason predictions yet. Everybody's saying that the Cubs will repeat. I'm going to hold off on making any predictions. I will make my predictions after the All-Star Break.
