The St Louis Cardinals Took 2-Of-3 From Their Arch Rival Chicago Cubs And The Cardinals Are Back In First Place In The National League Central. The Brewers Lost 2-Of-3 From The Oakland A's But They Do Have a Chance To Get Back In So Don't Count Them Out Yet.

In This Three Game Set At Busch Stadium The Cardinals Beat The Cubs By a Combined Score Of 10-3. And Their Was Two Home Runs Hit All Series. One Of Those Home Run's Belonged To Paul Goldschmidt. As the Cardinals Took Care Of Business In 2 Of Those Games.

Here's a Recap Of The Pitching Matchups.

Tuesday..

Wainwright Vs Darvish..

Adam Wainwright: He Was Solid In The Game Going 5 2/3 Innings Giving Up 5 Hits, 1 Earned Run, 3 Walks And He Did Have 5 Strikeouts. He Got The No Decision.

Giovanny Gallegos, Got The Win For The Cardinals On Tuesday Night as He Pitched One Inning And Struck Out One Batter And He Allowed a Walk. Come On The Pitcher Has Nine Holds. He Knows How To Hold a Lead And He Has an ERA Of 2.13

Carlos Martinez, Got The Save On Tuesday As He pitched 1 1/3 Innings And Struck Out Three For His 11th Save Of The Season. And Oh By The Way He Has a 3.45 ERA.

Yu Darvish, Got The Lost As He Only Pitched 5 Innings And He Was Responsible For Goldschmidt's Home Run.

Cardinals Win 2-1.

Wednesday..

Hendricks Vs Mikolas..

Kyle Hendricks, Had His Stuff On Wednesday Night As He Pitched 7.0 Innings Allowed No Earned Runs And Struck Out 7 Batters. Hendricks Gets The Win.

Miles Mikolas, Had a Good Night Except He Gave Up One Run On Six Hits, And He Also Gave Up One Walk And Struck Out Three. But Sadly He Gets The Loss.

Craig Kimbrel, He Came On In Relief. Kimbrel Pitched One Inning And Stuck Out Two. Kimbrel Gets The Save, And Keep This In Mind Kimbrel Has An ERA Of 6.17.

Cubs Win 2-0..

Thursday..

Lester Vs Flaherty..

Jack Flaherty, He Was Ready To Face The Cubs And Was He Impressive. Flaherty Pitched 7 Innings, No Earned Runs Gave Up One Hit And Struck Out Nine And Had Two Walks. Flaherty Gets The Win.

Jon Lester, He Was Rocked Badly On Thursday. Lester Gave Up Nine Hits, Five Earned Runs, But He Did Have Six Strikeouts. Lester Gets The Loss.

Cardinals Win 8-0..

Now Lets Look At The Hitting.

The Hitting In This Series Was Not The Best In The First Two Games As You Saw In The Pitching Matchups. Now I Have The Final Numbers From Three Of The Biggest Hitters On Both Teams And I Will Say This, The Cubs Are In Trouble.

CHC:

Kris Bryant: He Was 1-10 with a Strikeout, In The Last Seven Days His Batting Average Has Been a Dismal .143 And He's Only 3-for-21 In That Span. OH MY!!!!!!!.

Javier Baez: He Was Not Much Better, He Was 2-10 With An RBI And a Double, But He Did Have One Strikeout. In The Last Seven Days Baez Only Has a .167 Batting Average. OUCH!!!!.

Anthony Rizzo: Not Much Better Either, He Was 2-10, He Did Have Two 2B And He Did Have One Strikeout. And In The Last Seven Days His Batting Average Has Been a Low .167, YIKES!!!!.

Those Three Big Bats For The Cubs Were a Total Combined 5-30 In This Three Game Set. The Cubs Hitters Need To Put On The Big Boy Paints If They Want To Compete For The Division.

STL:

Tommy Edman: He Could Have Done Better, He Was 3-13 In This Three Game Set. He Had a Double, And An RBI, But He Had Two Strikeouts. Despite All Of That Edman's Batting Average In The Last Seven Days Has Been .261, That's Pretty Good.

Paul Goldschmidt: He Was The Power Hitter In This Three Game Set. Try 5-13 With a Home Run Tuesday And He Did Have Two Doubles In The Series. And Goldschmidt Should Be a Fear In The League Because In The Last Seven Days He's Been Hitting .417, So Lookout In The National League.

Dexter Fowler: He Was the Weak Bat, He Was 1-12 In This Set With Three Strikeouts. Despite That Fowler's Batting Average In The Last Seven Days Has Been a Decent .235, So Fowler Needs To Start Hitting More.

Those Three Big Bats For The Cardinals Were a Combined 9-38 In This Three Game Set. Two Of Three Were Good But Not Great, The Other One Needs To Really Start Hitting If The Cards Want To Be In The Postseason.

The Cubs And Cardinals Don't See Each Other Again Until September..

But I Will Say This About This Three Game Set. Not Much Was Resolved Here At All. The National League Central Is Tight. But The Cardinals Are Now 14-6 Since The All-Star Break. The Cardinals Are Playing Much Better And It's Staring To Show. The Cardinals Offense Was Quiet But The Pitching Was Not.

The Cubs On The Other Hand Are Only 10-9 Since The All-Star Break And The Bats Were Silent All Series. Yes They Did Squeak a 2-0 Victory On Wednesday, Other Than That It Was The Cardinals Dominating. The Cubs Bats Need a Wakeup Call Yesterday Because They Are In Trouble In The Division At the Moment.

So What's Next You Ask For Both Teams..

The Cardinals Have An Off Day On Friday Before The Hit The West Coast.

The Cardinals Have a Quick Series Against The Oakland A's On Saturday And Sunday.

The On Monday They Get a Three Game Set At Dodger Stadium As They Face The Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Cubs Head Home To Wrigley Field On Friday As They Have The Milwaukee Brewers At Home And Then They Get To Face The Oakland A's At Home.

The Three Game Set At Busch Is Over And Not Much Was Resolved At All.

Bottom Line..
