The New York Mets Are In Playoff Mode, And Yes Rookie Pete Alonso Has a Supporting Cast. The Mets Rookie Has Been Excellent All Season And He's Been The Story For The New York Mets. But As Far As The Mets As a Team Goes It's Been a Different Story.

At One Point The Mets Had The 2nd Worst Record Of 46-55 And They Were 8 Games Out Of The 2nd Wildcard, That Was On July 24th. Let's Turn The Page To The Next Dat July 25th, That's When The Mets Started To Get Red Hot, The Mets Are 19-5 Since Then And Now They Have a 65-60 And They Are Now 2 Games Back Of The 2nd Wildcard.

Oh The Supporting Cast I Was Talking About, It Goes Further Than Jacob DeGrom, Noah Syndergaard And Steven Matz. But I Will Be Fair And Say Let's Not Take Them Lightly And Here's What I Mean.

Jacob DeGrom: DeGrom Has 194 Strikeouts As Leads The Team In That Aspect. But The 8-7 Record With 2.61 ERA Has Been a Help, His ERA In The Last Seven Days 1.29.

Noah Syndergaard: He Has 8-6 Record With 151 Strikeouts And a 3.86 ERA, His ERA In The Last Seven Days Is Only 3.00.

Steven Matz: He Beat The Indians On Tuesday. With an 8-7 Record With 116 Strikeouts And 4.18 ERA How Can You Say He's a Slouch. He Was No Slouch Against The Indians. He Pitched 6 1/3 Allowing Only 5 Hits, 2 Runs, 1 Earned, 2 BB And Struck Out 7. His ERA In The Last Seven Days Has Been 1.50..

The Rest Of The Supporting Cast Has Been The Hitting Of JD Davis And Michael Conforto And Yes Both Hitters Had Home Runs Against The Indians On Tuesday.

JD Davis Said This To Reporters After The Game On Tuesday.. " When You Can Beat Shane Bieber And The Indians You Really Feel Like You Did Something Special And We Are Have The Playoff Mentality At the Moment." Davis Numbers Have Been Something The Mets Have Been Looking For.. .312/.374/.522 And In The Last Seven Days JD Davis Has a Batting Average Of .389, I'm Not Joking!!!!!!!!.

Michael Conforto Had This To Say After The Game On Tuesday.. " We Beat The Best The American League Central Has To Offer. Right Now Everybody's Thinking About Winning Baseball Games And We Are Looking To Make Some Noise Down The Stretch." Conforto's Numbers Have Been Something The Mets Needed Badly And Still Need If They Want To Be In The Postseason.. .256/.386/.500 I Know He's Only Been Hitting .217 In The Last Seven Days, However The Home Run Against Cleveland Was His Moment.

Here's Something Else You Might Want To Consider.. When The Mets Won 15-Of-16 Games At The End Of July Through Mid August Those Wins Came In The Soft Spot Of The Mets Schedule. Those Wins Came Against Team Like The Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox And Miami Marlins, Now The New York Mets Are Heading Into The Tough Part Of The Schedule Where The Next Eight Series Are Against Teams With Records .500 Or Better.

3 Vs Cleveland.

3 Vs Atlanta.

3 Vs Chicago Cubs.

3 @ Washington.

3 Vs Philadelphia.

4 Vs Arizona.

3 Vs Los Angeles Dodgers.

3 Vs Colorado.

The Mets Are 35-21 At Home This Season But The Road Record Is Under .500 At 30-39. The Good News For The Mets Is 25-Of Their Final-37 Games Are At Home. And That Could Really Help At The End Of The Season.

Here's My Take..

The New York Mets Have Had a Down And Up Season In 2019. At One Point They Had The 2nd Worst Record In The National League, Now All Of The Sudden They Are In The Middle Of The Wild-Card Race. In My Opinion This Nine Game Homestand For The Mets Will Tell The Story If We Will See Rookie Pete Alonso And The Mets In The Postseason Or Not. So Form Here On Out It's Do Or Die For The Team Form Queens Because There's No More Pushovers Form Here On, It's All About The Teams Over .500 And Hungry Themselves. The 9-2 Win Over The Indians On Tuesday Was an Excellent Start.. However The Mets Need To Keep Up Their Winning Ways. If They Take The Series Form The Indians And Sweep The Braves Or Cubs We Can Say For Sure That The Mets Are For Real.

Bottom Line..
