Aaron Judge Wins Home Run Derby
Everyone seemed to be all rising on their feet when Aaron Judge was batting in the home run derby at Marlins Park on Monday Night. (2) Judge defeated (5) Miguel Sano in the finals 11 to 10.
The rules in the home run derby is that each player has four minutes to hit as many home runs as possible. If two of them go over 440 feet, that player will get an extra 30 seconds. One time out is allowed for each player as well.
Aaron Judge also hit two home runs over 500 feet. His longest one was 513 feet.
In the first round, (5) Miguel Sano defeated (4) Mike Moustakas 11 to 10. It was a wild first round and Moustakas had chances to win but he came up short.
(8) Gary Sanchez upset (1) Giancarlo Stanton 17 to 16. The controversy was that Logan Morrison called out Sanchez before the home run derby. Well I guess Sanchez proved Morrison wrong. Stanton was still very impressive anyways.
(2) Aaron Judge defeated (7) Justin Bour 23 to 22, in extra time (not swings). Bour electrified the crowd when he was batting, but Judge was just too powerful once again for the baseballs.
(3) Cody Bellinger defeated (6) Charlie Blackmon 15 to 14, in extra time (not swings). Bellinger needed a home run over 440 feet with under 10 seconds remaining and he got it. Bellinger received 30 extra seconds and took advantage of it.
(5) Miguel Sano defeated (8) Gary Sanchez in the second round 11 to 10. (2) Aaron Judge defeated (3) Cody Bellinger 13 to 12. The rest of the home run derby was history after that.
It was one of the most exciting home run derby's in recent memory. The all-star game takes place tomorrow 8 p.m. eastern on FOX in Miami.
