With the New York Mets in a deep hole in the MLB Standings, they have decided to trade reliever Addison Reed to the Boston Red Sox for pitchers Stephen Nogosek, Jamie Callahan, and Gerson Bautista.

Nogosek was ranked as the Red Sox #18 prospect, Callahan was ranked as the Red Sox #23 prospect, and Bautista was ranked as the Red Sox #28 prospect. Reed's record so far this season is 1-2 with a 2.57 ERA. He has pitched 49 innings.

Reed has only walked 6 batters and struck out 48 batters in that span. He also has recorded 19 saves in 21 tries. This is a valuable pick up for the Red Sox because he can also pitch the 8th inning as well.

In the minor leagues this season, Nogosek's record is 4-4 with a 3.06 ERA. He's pitched in 53 innings. Nogosek has walked 21 batters and struck out 63. He also has recorded 19 saves in 23 tries.

Callahan's record in the minors so far this season is 5-2 with a 3.21 ERA. He's pitched in 42 innings and has walked 13 batters and struck out 56. Callahan has also recorded 6 saves in 6 tries.

Bautista's record in the minors so far this season is 3-2 with a 5.16 ERA. He has pitched in 45.1 innings and he has walked 28 batters and struck out 53. Bautista also has recorded 4 saves in 8 tries.

Nogosek and Bautista aren't projected to reach the majors until 2019. Callahan is projected to reach the majors at some point in 2017. It is clear with this trade that the Mets are building their bullpen for the future and the Red Sox are trying to win it all this season.
