Panthers Suffocate Dolphins

The Carolina Panthers were looking to continue to play with swagger and Miami Dolphins were looking to get its mojo back. Carolina dominated Miami 45-21.

With the Panthers leading 3-0 in the second quarter, Christian McCaffrey scored on a 4-yard touchdown run. Julius Thomas caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Jay Cutler in the second-quarter for the Dolphins. Right before halftime, Ed Dickson caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Newton. Dickson finished with three receptions for 33 yards receiving and a touchdown.

In the third quarter, Newton threw a screen pass to Devin Funchess and he took it 28 yards for a touchdown. Cameron Artis-Payne scored on a 12-yard touchdown run later in the period for the Panthers. He finished with 68 rushing yards on seven carries and a touchdown.

Kenyan Drake scored on a 66-yard touchdown run in the third-quarter for the Dolphins. He finished with 82 rushing yards on seven carries and a touchdown and Drake also had two catches for 10 yards receiving. McCaffrey caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Newton late in the third. McCaffrey finished with three receptions for 27 yards receiving and a touchdown, along with 23 rushing yards on five carries and a touchdown.

Jonathan Stewart was Carolina's leading rusher with 110 yards on 17 carries. In the fourth quarter, Newton threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Devin Funchess. Funchess finished with five receptions for 92 yards receiving and a touchdown. Newton had a big game with completing 21-of-35 passes for 254 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also rushed for 95 yards on five carries.

The Miami Dolphins will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-6) on Sunday and the Carolina Panthers will go on a bye week.
